  1. I have one of those here with a side-fan but its terrible to open and close (also don't remember if it blowes in or sucks out; not in use - verry crashy) Yep, I have always more than one HHD wich produces heat but I care more about cleaning from time to time. I don't live in a hot area, though, depending on my room setup, I sometimes tend to just leave the case open to not have to care about heat getting caught if I'm in doubt. Also helps if lazy due to easy access. No babies or cats here that would mess things up by crawling inside.

  3. If you have a fan lying around (maybe from unused heatsink) you could try attaching it to your chassis. I had a PC chassis with an integrated fan that actually reduced the CPU heat (might already be significant) but adding a fan into another chassis had no effect. Might depend on the design and other parts that are used wich changes the air flow. However, I think that might also have effect on the dust flow..
  4. I'm suspecting / hoping it will be released when its done and not any time sooner as that wouldn't make any sense.
  5. Installing / Updating DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime is needed to run some older games on Vista / 7.
  6. Oh, dont get me wrong.. you better do it properly.
  7. If there is lots of old hard paste left just take a big flat head screw driver or a knife for rough cleaning. Scratches on the aluminium are not a big deal if it will be filled with new paste later (for me, the only CPU that burned away after replacing the heatsink was a 233 cyrix some time ago : ). Alcohol etc is a good idea if you want to do it really properly.
  8. No idea about your hardware but more watt doesn't necessarily result in higher temeratures. Maybe you can continue research by checking for which CPU types and its max temperatures your heatsinks are made for. Cleaning the heatsink and using fresh thermal paste can have a bigger effect than using a stronger but dirty heatsink. Its doesn't matter which CPU thermal paste you use; Air is a great insulator for temerature - so we don't want any air between heatsink and CPU. I would try each heatsink (clean) for about one day (without paste) and checking temperature now and then (after gaming/video) using any freeware tool.
  9. The team simply started this mod using VC. SA actually offers more possibilities (especially when using cleo) due to investigation done by other people, but it means more work and precious time to port all the stuff that has already been done. I dont think there is any reason to drop VC while it works.. I'm sure we can expect something bigger than the current mini mod for SA after the team has actually finished the mod for VC. If the team decides to not port it to SA, there might be other people who will do that because porting is not as much work as creating is.
  10. I'd say GPU for 3D stuff. For converting video files etc, a faster CPU might decrease processing time by seconds, though you might not feel that much of it. Upgrading the video card will probably improve your experience more as long as the new one wouldn't be too fast for the rest of your system/cpu (bottle neck). I'd suggest only upgrading your CPU together with your RAM; with matching and preferably speedy FSB. [hardcore example] My secondary PC's (2.?GHz x2 cpu; 2.5GB ram) graphics card died so I replaced it with an ooold GeForce2 MX400 PCI card (mobo too new for AGP); It can barely run GTA.. I can convert video though, which is normal to take some time since its some work for the PC.
  11. There are some horse and dog mods for SA but their custom made animations make them look more like magic robots. Its probably a tough job to make animal animations for a game like SA. If IV is not that limited on the animation side, good luck on the mod. Whatever the Air Bud way is, I'd like to see it someday in IV.
  12. http://www.freedownloadmanager.org A very reliable tool. Also for resuming stopped downloads. I always use it to download tricky or big stuff (actually, I use it for pretty much any download).
  13. Happy birthday & good luck with your iOS/Smartphone edits.

  14. I don't have a smart phone or anything but I think its pretty cool you do this, Neomatrix. Work progress also seems to go quite good. Nice work.
  15. There already exists (somewhere) an edited version of the SA mod that also includes the different variations of the DeLorean. Anyway, I'd like to see what you did as long as Trance (kalel) is OK with what you did to his conversion. Well, I don't think you need permission to show some pictures and I don't think a lot until I see something. As I understand it, the coding you did is mainly for adding the variations of the DeLorean into the mod?
  16. I agree to both of you. Usually I don't trust installers and prefer to install and create backups manually. But who would have guessed it deletes all cleos. A un/installer should be noob proof otherwise it doesn't make much sense.
  17. ORLY!? You know what? Maybe you are! Har har, gotcha! I'm just great.
  18. Its the 21st here already but I aint feel nothing yet.. Does the latest timezone has to go beyond 12PM until the hole world can end or is there a special timezone which is used for the doom? I think I should ask my neighbor for some hot coffee before its too late.
  19. You're guessing right, I can only visit occasionally atm. Good to know a skin is already on its way. But even though the snappy days might be gone, there are some new features in the post edit box which look pretty useful (was totally blanc yesterday ).
  20. I hope there will be some users who benefit from this update because, at this point, I'm afraid I don't. Apart from the unfamiliar new layout (wich I probably will get used to; but the old style was also organized more compact), the old site was much more responsive; It was the snappiest I periodically visit. (using several systems: WinXP/7;Firefox;JRE7 / Mint;Firefox;jdk-7-JRE) Could this be fixed when there will eventually be a unique skin? And my signature code was killed. No wait! There it is.. Just some thoughts from an unqualified user.
  21. When viewing these files in my text editor, I see this: Green = Original (first post; first spoiler). Red = Yours (from above post). Not Colored = similar in both files. Looks pretty much the same like when comparing both scripts from your first post. If I could see only what you've changed, then I would like to try if I could find a problem. It would be hard enough to go through such a big batch of text even if it would be just one script. Maybe you remember what you did and I try to redo it?
  22. @hscitpe, can you post your edited script without it has been decompiled again? I tryed to check out the differences in both versions you've posted last week or so (I have a nice feature for that in my text edior) but all those jumps have different numbers in the scripts, so I thought "no way - too much confusion". Too bad theres no source but I would still like to help due to personal greed.
  23. As Orgcon has already said, there is no PC (affordable) to run GTA IV @ max setting with pleasure. But since the PC conversion takes much much more resourceses (all settings @ very high) than on console, its no wonder current PC setups can't take it.. Would be nice if those guys who are working on advanced shaders would create something actually useful, rather than only create grafix that are screenshotable @ 5 FPS.
