BTTF 0.2e R2 Install Problem!

Hi all and the Team.

I hope the mod is going great!

What i want to say is that i followed MikeWard22's video on YouTube how to install the R2 version of the mod.

I done everything and the game won't run :'{. I had this problem for a long time and was never able to get pass this.

I'm sure some people out therehave the same problem like this

I realy want to get back and play this and make little reanactments.

Please somebody help.

The problem is when i run the exe (gta-vc) it goes to a black screen looking like it's loading the game, then a second it goes back to the place were you loaded the game but only in a bigger screen.

It sounds a ping like noise as well to say there's an error.

I don't get what i did wrong i followed ALL steps Mike says in the video.

My computer is ok. I run scans,registry fixes and all that and the same thing happens!

My computer is a gaming com so i don't get what the problem is.

So if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it!

P.S I think the setup might need updating.

What if you release two seprate versions of the mod.

Dude,try to reinsatll the Vice City.Or try lite version.I dont know you can even download 0.2e only the R2 got is bad map of Hill Valley and Train Push Delorean(You can download updated scm file) so try one of these or wait 0.2f.

Welcome to the forums, Agent Smith.

Did you remove the read-only flag from the VC folder before installation? The files which contain audio and models are set to read only by default and sometimes processes can't overwrite them. You have to remove the Read-Only flag from the Properties of the whole GTA:VC folder before installing any mod.

It's nothing to do with reinstalling it.

I tryed Lite as well just to test.

And what you are saying is that the error i get is because a scm file needs to be downloaded?

Were do i put it when downloaded?

P.S Is there anyway of getting the other version of 0.2e cause i liked that.

Also in my video people always say were i get the map so people would like to use it.

Everything 0.2e related is in the 0.2e category of the downloads section.

The team will only support R2 of 0.2e though, and I think even support for that version needs to stop since most bugs have now been reported.

you can choose lite or full on the one installer i believe.

I tryed that mate.

So there's only two problems which i think it may be.

My computer might be on its way and needs to be restored which i'm planning on doing.

And/or my disk is broke.

Well it is cause there is a deep scratch on the PLAY disk.

I'm buying a new one online.

I'll see if it is my disk, if not i'll have to take my PC back to itfactory settings.

I've ordered a new Vice City so hopfully i'll find out if it was my disc or my computer all this time.

It would make more sense if this was in the Bug Tracker Section. AMIRITE?

I can offer some advice.

Advice #1: Before installing, remove read-only on the entire rockstar folder.

Advice #2: When installing MAKE SURE the path is correct. My VC Copy adds a - in the folder name so I have to change the install path accordingly.

Like i said to another user mate.

It is most proberbly MY disk.

It's the PLAY one.

It's got a deep scratch in.

It completley slows down my computer once it's in the tray.

So i'm just waiting for my new copy of the game i ordered online.

And hopfully i can get back to some time traveling soon! :-)

I have done mate.

I did that and it just puts the blue box back on the Read-Only.

And turns the folder and its contents blue

Don't double-check the read-only setting, it resets if you do. Just uncheck it hit ok and don't look at it again. and if the game installs/plays just fine with that disc than it's not the disc.

this probably wont be any help but... Have you tried with a version that doesnt use a disk like steam? (if steam even has vc...i didnt use a disk,i used megaupload.)

I've got my new game and i get the same damn results and it's realy starting to get to me!

Looks like it's my crappy computer!

It always goes to the black screen and then quits out with an error message with the secreen larger.

Issue is the Operating System is Vista. I had the same issues on vista. Right click the exe and change compatibility to XP Service Pack 2 or 3. Not that it will help much.
