GTA SA: BTTF - Troubleshooting

Recommended Posts

ANYWAYS. I has a problem. Me n Angelo have been working on it over the last few days, but to no avail.

Well, what seems to happen when I load up the *FRESHLY INSTALLED COPY OF SA WITH BTTF CLEO MOD, because I know someone's going to ask* game, new game, ect. Loading bar finishes....loading. Screen fades to black, the music starts to fade, and when the music gets really low, it crashes to the desktop giving me an Error Report.

Angelo seems to think it's something with my AVG Free. Only thing that's stopping me from uninstalling it is the lack of safety when I use teh internets without a anti vir program.

Any other solutions you guys can think of?

We've tried :

==

-> Reinstalling, of course

-> Drivers are up to date.

-> GTA.set file is a fresh copy, as to not conflict with the updated drivers

-> Deleting all excess BTTF files after uninstalling, Reinstalling, booted up to play*successfully*, installing CLEO 3 with the intro mods, game still loaded successfully and I was able to play, deleted the intro mods in the cleo folder (as to not conflict with the BTTF mods) and installed the BTTF 0.1.2 mod. Same problem as up top.

Turning off Windows Defender (including the firewall)

Uninstalling Norton (the subscription was out anyway)

==

I'm running an XP computer with a dual core processor and an ATI Radeon 2600 HD Pro with 2 GB of RAM.

I thought i would open this topic to the public, see if there's anything else anyone has thought of.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Some little other questions:

  • Which version of the mod are you referring to?
    I guess 0.1.2 but I'm not sure.
  • Did you take a look at the installation log? If you closed the installer too quick, go to the SA folder and look for a install_log.txt (I might be mistaken concerning the filename... that's one of the mentioned new features we were talking about...). If you don't find anything in there, post its content here, please.
  • Did you rebuild the archive after installing the mod? Sometimes this caused crashes for me at the very end of the loading bar.
  • But the most probable reason might be some error with the script, maybe it didn't copy right? Would bring me back to point 1.

0.1.2 is the version I'm referring to.

Yes, i rebuilt the archive, right after installation.

Install log.txt info is in the spoiler.

@ Blue, no, the mods that come with CLEO (i.e. "Hello World!", F4 for quick save, ect.) offered me no problems.

EDIT : If you mean the KR mod, then yea, those were screwy with me too, but I didn't rebuild the archive, maybe that was the issue I was having. I did rebuild with this one though, because the Readme told me to.

You mean take out the CLEO folder of the GTA San Andreas to see if the game runs normally? I could try that, give me a minute and I'll report back.

EDIT : Removed CLEO folder, hit New Game, and it worked, as in, no CLEO folder at present time located in the GTA San Andreas directory.

Although I did still have BTTF text. >_>

hmm, ok. Lets do it one at a time.

Make a new cleo folder and dump audio and cleo_text in. Then add gtx_hook.cleo to your cleo directory and run the game. If it works, put in spawn.cs and run again and tell me if it works or not.

That worked, and I was able to spawn a DeLorean using the 2 key.

edit : put in the timecircuit.cs. Still no crash. About to load up the keypad.cs to see if anything happens.

EDIT EDIT : Keypad.cs crashed me.

EDIT EDIT EDIT : Added speed. I got it initially, but when I spawned the DeLorean and tried using it, the numbers blurred togethor on the speedometer ending in a block of text. I also got a black line that faded in the middle of my screen, then the game crashed. >_>

hmm, try the others as well just to make sure its just keypad.cs

If my calculations are correct, timetravel.cs would cause you to crash too.

oh yeah, if you're going to do speed and timecircuits, add textdraw.cs

textdraw is what causes to not blur.

timetravel...did. Testing the rest.

It did. Just tested it.

So the ones that work in tandem are :

Speed

Date

Spawn

Timecircuits

Draw

Everything else crashes on me when added, after testing the rest.

The audio and cleo_text are also in the folder, and they work. As does the Hook.cleo

When installing CLEO, is there any specific ASI loader that should be used?

Yes, there is a special asi-Loader suggested and shipped with CLEO.

Why are you asking, do you use a different?

There are two. One ASI Loader is by Listener and one is by...Je-something.

Imma to see if I use the other ASI Loader by Je-something if i can run it with sounds.

lol Blue, you must.

Otherwise CLEO wouldn't work since it is an asi-file.

CLEO 3 uses 3 files in work: vorbisFile.dll, vorbishooked.dll, cleo.asi. First two ones are the ASI loader.

Dunno which one that asi loader is, but I guess they use different techniques.

EDIT: The one shipped with SB is by Jernej L.

EDIT #2: Whoops, I meant CLEO, but SannyBuilder also comes with CLEO and the same asi-loader.

I installed 0.1.3.1 and looks like that the key 0 makes the delorean switch for hover mode. that's a bit annoying when entering a date in the time circuits...
