raybob 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) Yeah, the Q6600 is great too, but like I said, if he has the money, get a 4850. 12MB Cache, 45nm Technology, and a 1333FSB will help quite a lot in the long run. But yeah, if he can't get the 9450, definetly get the Q6600. LOL, Sorry, I''m tired, accidentally put 4850, was thinking about video cards. Meant to say Q9450. But if we're gonna talk about video cards, get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130443 Better and cheaper than this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102813 Edited March 6, 2009 by raybob95
Mike 214 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 sweet. i should be able to afford it, ill take a look at it. im more concerned about the video card, its the most expensive peice of hardware im geting. any advice there? I'd say pay as much as your budget will allow. I think all in my full new system is around the £2500 mark, but then I've bought stuff outside of the PC, such as new monitor, high def speakers, wireless keyboard/mouse etc.
raybob 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) Alright, well here's this. Your 3,750 NZD Budget = about $ 1,850, but I'll go with $1,500 as you said you also have to buy a monitor, speakers, etc. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P ($135) PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W PSU ($60 w/ MIR) Case: Antec 900 ($110) OS: Vista Home Premium 64 ($100) RAM: OCZ Platinum Edition 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM ($105) HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s ($110) Optical: LG Black 6X Blu-ray DVD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 40X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray/HD DVD-ROM & 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Model GGC-H20L - Retail ($120) AND Samsung Black SATA 22x DVD Burner ($25) CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (Not sure, not on Newegg, but ~$260 at most) GPU: EVGA 896-P3-1258-A1 GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 SSC Edition 896MB ($260) Media Reader: Koutech IO-FPM220 Card Reader ($30, but take off if you don't need it) Total: $1315 or 2640 NZD (Well below budget, room to improve) If you really want to fill your budget, I'd reccomend some faster DDR2 1200 RAM, and perhaps a cheaper 640 GB Main HDD, and then a 160GB 10k RPM Velociraptor, for the OS and Games. Video Card: Coulda Saved a lotta money on a GTX 260 Core 216 SSC Mobo: Seems good, but a Gigabyte solution would have been much cheaper. CPU: Good job going Quad. Couldn't find a Q9450? 12MB Cache. Case/PSU: Good Case, but the PSU seems awful weak at 460W. Be Careful with it. RAM: Good choice! Probably could've gotten 8 gig for not much more though.... HDD: Perfect drive. 32MB Cache, 7200 rpm, good. And I know the currency difference. The 9550 is $275, or ~552 NZD. He spent 574 on a 9400.
daangelo29 5 Report post Posted March 8, 2009 I've had like 15 since I joined this site I remember you were named "The Iron Lotus" back then with a picture of Homer Simpson as your avatar. You used to ask us more often about a. Yeah I can still remember those days. As for the specs you've shown, I'd follow KITT's advice. My college course will also be digital design plus more other stuff, so my dad told me I'll also be having a new PC with specs of my own choice. I'd choose the same specs. If you're planning to get Windows 7, your PC will run hell faster than anyone else's. Windows 7 is currently build to bring the best performance out of your PC, so quad core or not your PC will still run fast with this OS.
