Just checking in...

Recommended Posts

What's new everyone? It has been a while since I checked in on here.

Mod wise I simple have not had any time to check in on it lately, I have been extremely busy with real life, and have recently imported a second DeLorean to work on over the winter, which is taking up what little free time I do have. Over the past few weeks, I have been turning the car into an ever increasing number of parts. For those who are interested, I am uploading an ongoing collection of photos to document the restoration on dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mnkxjz3mxj34yte/AABeIKb97pv9_wJBleUZehZna?dl=0

In terms of updates on the mod, I believe the town square is now finished pending packaging, however coding still needs to be done, bluespace had advised he was going to update the script for us, I will need to check in with him to see how/if that is progressing. If it is not, then we may release the mod 'as-is', it has been waiting way too long and I think we need to get 0.2f released and draw a line under it.

mike you are so lucky, I'm wanting to get a delorean that's already been converted into a bttf 1 time machine OR bttf 2 time machine but I've been working on my own mod ( using scripts from delorean88mp, uokka and programist) called K.A.T.T

its basically my own time machine with the original set of tm's from the initial release of the mini mod but many more new effects, weapons and sorts

still buggy as hell O_O

all while remixing, making music videos and on skype and all sorts....multi-tasking much?

I've got my hands full with college, so I haven't got much time to check here recently.

About just enough time to make model and script edits over the weekend. I also started my own music mashup feed on Soundcloud.

Those photos are cool, Mike!

Great to see you too, ~Leaf~.

And peter, I'm waiting to see that release. B)

Good to hear from you, Mike!

The restoration project looks great, do keep us posted!

Unfortunately, I don't really frequent this forum too much anymore. I'm mostly on the LCPDFR forum, doing GTA IV related work.

Hopefully version 0.2f is able to come around soon. Any progress is good progress. :heh:

The car is in many many parts now, I have stripped of pretty much everything I can. All of the interior has been removed sans the steering wheel, and that will be coming off as soon as I get hold of a steering wheel puller, then the entire interior will be going to a specialist to retrim it. Front and rear fascias are off, as is the louvre and engine cover, and have been sent off for painting. The wheels were being refurbished and having fresh tyres installed, but those came back yesterday. Brake calipers are currently being replated and refurbished. I think that's about it for now, still lot's to do, but not much more I can do at the moment until the interior and fascias are done.

I don't have time for games anymore unfortunately, it's one of the reasons I haven't been on here to update progress, I just have not had the time. The little free time I do have is either spent with the mrs, or working on this new car.

Mini-Me has found a way to fix the glitch with the mouse not working on newer versions of windows, I count that as good progress as it was annoying as hell.

Well I recently updated my mod thread ^_^ which is cool, I need to wait on permission from tommylu to release the TARDIS and its scripts ( I forgot who made it when I first showed it off so I left it uncredited).

The mod pack is nearing completion but I want to be able to make an auto installer that installs ASI loader, mod loader and my files ( injecting them without external programs)

A little off topic here, but to answer your question:

I did that once in VC, but I don't know if there is a way to do it in SA.

What you'll need:

NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable installer)

Some command line image injector (For VC it was IMGEdCmd)

HM NIS Edit (To make your NSIS scripting easier)

Knowledge of the sytnax of the command line image injector in NSIS

I don't believe IMGEdCmd works for SA.

I found out how IMGEdCmd worked in this topic: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=310377

The topic was created by, you guessed it, Mike! B) You might want to ask him about it.

Wow, this is fantastic news! Do you have a thread on a DMC forum for this project? I would be very interested in keeping up with your progress. :)

I can also relate to not having the time for gaming. Times have certainly changed.

Regardless, I hope you are doing well overall. Best to you and the Mrs.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, your project almost sounds like Project Vixen, in some ways. Have you considered giving your project a name?

Wow, a blast from the past, the install script has been rewritten at least twice since that post was made.

I have posted up a small selection of pictures on Facebook, but I am holding off on posting them up on the DMC forums until the project is nearing completion.

I haven't really given the project a name, in comparison to the vixen project, my project is easy, the car was fully assembled to begin with, I have just been slowly making it look worse each time I work on it. Unfortunately the interior was pretty trashed so it has all had to come out so that it can be retrimmed. It will certainly keep me busy for a few months, I estimate it will be back on the road for March all being well.

Here are a few more pics, the interior is now completely gutted and ready to be taken down to the upholsterers for re-trimming.

And I must stop looking at DeLorean's, I need to finish this one first, but this eBay car is very tempting, and matches my requirements of grey interior, manual transmission, and grooved hood! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ebaymotors/1981-DeLorean-Very-Good-Condition-Low-Miles-/251731207290?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&forcev4exp=true#ht_500wt_899

It will be nice to get the interior pieces down to the trimmer, I don't think there is much chance of seeing that back until January at the earliest. But that's ok, it gives me a break until the fascias come back from being painted, then I can start putting the exterior back together, fitting the refurbished brake calipers, new brake lines and pads.

Slightly ambitious but I am aiming to have it on the road for a club meet in March.

Have you considered a fiberglass front fascia, Mike?

I watched this video a while ago. It seems quite good, considering there's less chance of them warping:

The do look very nice, but the originals are easily fixable. Also since the new ones are fibreglass, there is zero flex in them, so changing a bulb on the headlights would effectively be a fascia off job. Where as on the original you can push the side/top in enough to get to the screws that hold the headlights in place.

The 'eyebrows' on the original fascia's can be removed by heating the affected area up with a heat gun and strategically placing a block of wood and some clamps. Rinse and repeat until the eyebrow has gone. To stop them warping again, you bond some strips of ally bar to the under side.

Plus I like to keep things original where I can, it maintains the originality of the car :)

I understand what you mean with originality. That's always a plus! :)

It's good to know all of these facts.. Even though I probably won't have the opportunity to put them to use. :P

Well, almost a year on from my last post.

The car was completed in June 2015, it has since been used sparingly over the summer.  The car was sold this week and the new owner collected the car on Wednesday evening.

For those who are interested there are a ton of pictures on the original dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mnkxjz3mxj34yte/AABeIKb97pv9_wJBleUZehZna?dl=0  Not all the pictures are in order though, and there are some duplicates in there.

It was a little sad seeing the car drive off into the distance for the last time, but I'm sure she will be enjoyed by her new owner.
