EarthwormJim 1 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 dooms.. your coming across as a overly happy person, and its really creeping me out. CAAAAAAAAALM DOOOOOOWN (imagine that being said in a deep slow motion voice, not an angry yelling voice) i really dont understand the obsession with marriage, i never intend to get married, i DO intend to find a partner who i want to stay with for the rest of my life and probably have a couple kids with, but marriage itself seems so pretentious and overlly commercialised.. the only way id get married is if i was in an extremely serious relationship and the girl i was with had her heart bloody set on it. and about your little freak out over somone calling your little story corny, and you responding with a stab at his age... id just like to say that untill i read this thread i would have picked your age at about 14 purely based on your behaviour. welcome back i guess then
Joe Statler 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Only reason why I ever wanted to get married was because the Star Trek experience in Las Vegas did marriage ceremonies on the replica of the bridge of the Enterprise-D for $2,000, and you got your choice of either a Klingon or a Vulcan being a witness. Now that it's closed I have no reason to get married anymore.

daangelo29 5 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 Welcome back handofdoom71. And advanced congratulations on your marriage. I'm still puzzled about the how these "childhood relationships" last as long. really dont understand the obsession with marriage, i never intend to get married, i DO intend to find a partner who i want to stay with for the rest of my life and probably have a couple kids with, but marriage itself seems so pretentious and overlly commercialised.. the only way id get married is if i was in an extremely serious relationship and the girl i was with had her heart bloody set on it. For me, marriage is about committing yourself to the one you love and that you won't choose love anyone else but her. But seriously, when I read that post, I kept silent for awhile thinking "you have a point there." But note that there are some countries where unmarried couples are not allowed by law to have kids. I'm not sure if you have the same law there in New Zealand.
Johny-The-Dot-Damn 1 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 For me, marriage is about making family and have kids and have fun with my own family and make them happy. EarthwormJim 1 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 New Zealand is a VERY non religious western country, so its really not uncommon to find unmarried couples who have kids and are perfectly happy. if im madly in love with a girl and she feels likewise im going to find my own unique way to express it rather than doing what the rest of the bloody world does and just have a ceremony and a legal contract. its called creativity and thinking outside the box
