  1. Don't delete models that are going to be replaced, just rename them. Deleting them might require rebuilding the IMG, which would be a pain in the a** to SA v2 users. Also, we need to do so for back-up/uninstalling purposes.
  2. I thought it was complex because of the model stuff. When I thought of it, the updater would be capable of detecting the version of the mod and GTA:SA you installed, connecting to a server, downloading files, backing-up files, reversing the updating process (in cases like the user chooses to cancel it, or the PC restarts by itself after doing something during the update, etc.) without screwing up anything, changing the data inside a Notepad-editable file (instead of replacing the file itself), and importing files to an IMG.
  3. I never considered the connecting and download part complex. I was talking about the rest of the program. That's unless you make it to a set of programs instead of just one, then it wouldn't be complex at all.
  4. I was asking for ANY arrangement or remake, Christian music, emo, or even an orchestral version of a rock song, as long as it's decent or worth listening. If you guys know any arrangement with uniqueness in it, like the one below, I'd be more than glad to know what it is. " width="480" height="295">" />
  5. I never said about it being hard at all. And, yeah, forgot about the cvs/subversion stuff. And I believe there are also other ways that we haven't mentioned to update it via software.
  6. Updating is only possible if we make the engine out of scratch or if we make a very complex program out of C++ that connects itself to a server for updating.
  7. So your point is, you don't really have the time to work on the mod, am I right? Sorry for the question if you don't like answering questions about the development of this mod atm, but will the sparks be in in this version? That is, if you've started working on the other features that will be included.
  8. ...Which is my friend's case. A friend of mine doesn't have access to the internet, so he either gets the latest version of the mod released from me or in a computer cafe. And since I just told him about this SA version of the mod, and he's asking for it once 0.1.3.2 is released, I'll also need .NET included. Same can be said to 3 of my classmates and 2 of my other friends. I think we should go for an installer with .NET included.
  9. I'm with Blue and Joe. Make the link clickable, and by then people would have a decent version of .NET installed. You may also want to try DK's idea, too. Not all of us use WLM or need it as much as you guys. Here in the PH, for instance, Yahoo! Messenger is mostly used and most preferred than WLM. Most would likely ditch WLM for it.
  10. lol I meant any more songs that have vocals
  11. True, it's the same, except for the fact that the user no longer needs to rebuild any IMG (unless the custom IMG that will be included isn't rebuilt yet), and SA v2.0 users and/or Vista users would no longer complain about the mod not working.
  12. That's Service Pack 3. SP1/SP2 or a Windows XP without an SP don't consider it a very important update. Then again, why wouldn't you update it to SP3?
  13. ...or we could have that, IF you guys can give the installer the ability to rename files in an IMG file. Speaking of which, it's about time we take advantage of San Andreas' "moddability". Custom IMGs is the point of this entire guide I made, so why not have a custom IMG for the models instead of replacing the models in the original IMG which might complicate things for some, like what Blue's suggesting? We wouldn't mind having a 100+ MB installer, as long as we install the mod without problems and we're gonna enjoy the mod later.
  14. That explains my last experience with that Rise of Nations problem, as well as another one before that that I can't recall.
  15. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users wouldn't have a problem about .NET Framework. MS updates it for them automatically. And there are some cases when Windows would detect if this program you're running requires a certain version of .NET, and would prompt you about it. I'm not sure about XP, though. Back then, I would update .NET myself if programs like Rise of Nations wouldn't work.
  16. That'd be making the installer bigger in size. You'd have models outside an IMG AND an IMG with these models inside contained in the installer. It will be like doubling the total size of all models contained in the current installer. No good idea, either.
  17. I recall having Malmsteen songs. Anyone else? I'm aiming more than just instruments-only songs. Involve ones with vocals such as New Found Glory's songs.
  18. I agree with PizzaPlanetTruck. It's better than having no effects. VC's ain't movie-accurate either -- the glows are way off and too big -- so why bother?
  19. Yeah, I know Powerglove. Already searched for them. Anyone else?

    Canon Rock

Does anyone here know a band or musician like New Found Glory, JerryC and (Guitar Hero 3's) Steve Ouimette who made arrangements/remakes of songs of other musicians, and those arrangements/remakes they made? I have this love for arrangements/remakes, like turning an acoustic or orchestral songs to rock and the like. " width="480" height="295">" /> (And don't mind the topic's title much. Made it so it would catch your attention )
  21. Speaking of which, I do remember experiencing crashes EVERYTIME I go to another island. I installed a minor CLEO script in to keep the wanted level to 0, so it can't be the SA police that's causing it.
  22. How about just adding this to the installer of the next version of the SA mod? Give the installer the ability to use both methods I provided in the guide. It should work like this: The installer would check the version of SA you have, and if it is 2.0 it would first use the downgrader solution, and if that didn't work, the installer will just create a custom IMG and install the models there then change the gta.dat's code to add the IMG MODELS\BTTFMODELS.IMG line in.
  23. I don't remember putting that step (Close IMG Editor without rebuilding the IMG) there. In fact, the Long Method had 16 steps last time I checked. Removed. Any other mistake I made in the Long Method? Added the link to Mike's downgrader in the Short Method.
  24. If you're a local here in the Philippines, and you know how traffic and rush hour work here, then you wouldn't find the color-coding law weird. It's a part of controlling the uber heavy traffic here in the PH, for the fact that jobs and school times always start at 5-8 AM and some other reasons. But despite this, and the numerous buses, taxis, jeepneys, bicitaxis/Philippine tricycles and metered taxis in the road, we still experience heavy traffic everyf*ckingday. linc69 might know a better reason why this law is implemented. That would be a lie. Even our bicitaxi drivers always wear sandals or slippers without law/traffic enforcers bothering, and why would you even want to ride motorcycles barefooted? Also, because of the bribe-able traffic/law enforcers, being ticketed is "avoidable". See how corrupt our country is?
