About 8-10 years ago they were selling it at my local computer store for $1.99, but you weren't really paying for the software, just the disc it came on. Also I run Linux off of my slave drive and use it a lot. When I do get myself my own computer I will be making the computer I'm on into a server that will only have the Linux OS. My friend is making his old comp. into a Firewall, which will only have the Linux OS as well. And also Linux is meant for Power users (programmers), and not for gaming, video editing, etc...
