How to change text and backgrond color in a C++ application?

Well, our programmation teacher put us as a homework to investigate how to change text and background color in a C++ program. I tried with some codes like "textcolor();", and searched on Google for about 3 hours, but all of the codes don't work. We are mad because we don't find any solution. Who is a programmer here that can help us?

We are using Turbo C++ 4.5 in our school. (I know it's so old).
