New Computer

Recommended Posts

OK, so my friend is currently attempting to find the right parts to build a PC. He needs it to be under $400, which includes MIRs. Monitor, Speakers, etc., not included. He needs an FDD.

I'm currently working at getting one under $400, and if anybody has any suggestions for the build, post it here.

The OS does not count (Thank God, it's like $100, he's gonna use Ubuntu  )

All he wants to do is surf the web, and watch movies. (Therefore needs a DVD Drive) But, the $400, is a limit, and he wants to get it as low as possible, as long as it does what he needs.

EDIT:

Ok, here's my build:

Mobo: Intel BOXDP35DPM ($110)

PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ($50)

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 RC-534-SKN2-GP ($50)

RAM: Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 ($25)

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive ($35)

DVD: LG Black IDE 22X DVD Burner ($20)

CPU: Intel Pentium-D E5400 ($95)

GPU: Apollo AP-8500GT 256MB DDR2 GeForce 8500 GT ($38)

FDD: Sony FDD ($8)

TOTAL: $430

This isn't a great build, and doesn't quite meet the budget. Please post suggestions, or full builds.

Oh yeah, he wants to order everything from Newegg.

<_< Yeah, LOL, he can't.

Besides, he only needs so much for surfing the web and watching movies ;)

A 2.8GHz Dual Core and NVIDIA 8500GT will do that just fine. ;)

A 1.6ghz single and 7600GT would do that fine...
