  1. Right well doing the BTTF 3 Railroad got me thinking and I thought, why can't I just move stuff across and optimize it more. I remember the fact that the Delorean base mesh is all the same so I can easily move stuff across. Well I just started doing that and I believe I can make new Deloreans that are a mish mash of old and new that will be stable in the mobile environment. I did a quick test of one and it turned out great, Mr Fusion doesn't open though but this is only a test to see if it works. It is more stable than the full one as it is smaller but also has more eye candy than the original verison. Here's some screenies.
  2. Yeah well I think you did a good job Trance because I only just realized that his feet don't touch the ground -.- I'm not an expert at GTA Modelling stuffs so... But my guess is that there's a defined size or something but I messed about with it and I can't get him to touch the ground :'( Anyways I was messing around with models and wanted to make a railroad BTTF3 del with the wheels. So I ported the ones from the high poly one and put it in the low poly one. It works and looks ok however, for some reason in the PC version of Vice City this works absolutely fine and yeah. In the mobile version the door animations do not work at all, he doesn't even register that there there. He doesn't even open the door just sits in it, thinking about it as I'm writing it's possibly because it's replacing the baggage carrier. Oh that makes sense -.- Sorry thinking as I'm typing lol Basically it was really slow and obviously it's using the col from the baggage or something and it's not working because omg yeah I know now lol Well lemme go fix this one xD EDIT:This should fix Marty too!!!!!!!! EDIT2: Well the doors work now, turns out it was the handling.cfg, I thought I copied it but it was probs from 0.2c when that car wasn't modded. As for marty, I can't even edit the peds.col file as the editor I have just won't take the file. If anyone else knows how to edit this file let me know!
  3. Just modified Trance's TellTale Marty to be more size accurate, MJ Fox is actually quite a short guy he's 5'4 so he's a midget xD But we love him! Anyway he was towering over almost all of the peds and his head didn't fit in the cars because his hair was sticking out the sides etc, even more proof he's too big. I know he's 'cartoony' so he's gonna be more exaggerated but this is the best Marty model out there But here he is in the Delorean with the size adjustments, he's 90% of his original size so it's not a huge difference but it works a lot better!

  5. Haha, that's exactly how it goes though xD I've become so used to crashing now, it happens more time than the damn thing even works. But that's because every time I change something it crashes, if I leave it it's fairly stable Well it's the one's from 0.2e that look really good that I want to use as they look good, but yeah for some reason they cause crashes, they are like 2.6mb+ so I reckon it's the size/polygons causing the instability. Also the ones from early versions from 0.2a - 0.2c work well, however they just aren't as good as the one's released later on. I imported the 0.2e models into 3ds max and optimized them a little to cut down on the polys and got the file smaller and that works, but the texture maps are missing so I'm trying to figure out how to get the textures working on 3DS now xD I will keep my work updated on here
  6. I've experimented with the high poly deloreans and it seems to be that it crashes on instantaneous when going to a different time of day. Like if I go from 12pm to 12am it crashes but going from 12pm to 12pm is fine. I'm not sure what causes this, I can only think that the strain of the high poly model as well as changing the time etc is putting it under stress.

  8. The iPod Touch 4G is an absolute no go, it can barely run the game without modding. I managed to get it to run once, and I couldn't even change the direction I was walking in... The iPhone 4 may fair better due to it's higher RAM but I doubt that will work any better... Anyway I managed to get a familiar face working on here, thanks to someone who ported him from the Tell Tale Game ^.^ As well as the HD Font shown here, it looks so much better!
  9. High Poly Delorean's working, these are completely unstable on my devices though. If anyone has an iPhone 5 or iPad 4 let me know because I'd like to test these high poly Delorean's on those devices as they have better CPUs and more RAM which may make them more stable.
  10. Yep funnily enough Well I haven't been working on this for a bit as you guys can tell, I got bored a little as it takes a lot of trial and error to try and get stuff working. The engine on iOS is quite unstable to modding which is no different from the PC version as it also crashes a lot. Anyway I recently picked this up again and I'm just trying to piece together a working version of the game and package up so people can help me out for testing. I managed to get the high poly vehicles to work on the mobile version by tweaking the way the garage works to load the models prior to spawning them. However as soon as you try and do an instantaneous time travel on re-entry the game just crashes without fail but I'm not sure why this is, I've done at the airport with no other vehicles around and it always does it. I haven't pieced through the Time Travel code yet to see what goes on, maybe if Mike or someone could help me to understand what goes on in the re-entry. The flying delorean works but the Mr Fusion and all that keeps moving like the blades, I changed the .col file for it so I'm not sure why thats happening? However I have some problems as there aren't enough keys for things like thrust, I did change to the Hunter as the vehicle to be based on and that gave me extra keys however they are Missiles and shooting and I don't know a way of preventing it from doing that and just making them buttons that actually do nothing until I add the code. The thrust does actually work but obviously I don't want the thing to start shooting every where xD Also I had a small problem trying to use iOS version 1.3 as the crashes seemed more frequent so that might need more testing as time goes on. For now I'm just gonna keep tweaking things but it's pretty much working. However this is going to be an on and off project as I do work on other things too But if people could help out we should get a test version out for people to mess about with!
  11. I'm rebuilding the app and making sure I have everything. Just mainly organisation so I can continue making the stuff work. I am going to try and use a helicopter that has weapons and see if I can disable shooting on it and use the button for thrust.
  12. Yes, for sure. I had to use low poly cars from 0.2a/b as the high poly cars caused to many crashes. I got the BTTF1 from 0.2e working however travelling through time would cause a random crash and when using the low poly model that didn't happen. Unless someone can edit the cars to be lower poly they won't ever be available at least not for a few years until the mobile processors are fast enough to deal with it. The A6 might cope, but I don't have a device which has an A6 processor in so if someone does it would be cool if they could test I think people think that there is a limit on the size of the dff file but I have had a 2.8mb dff running on my iPad 2 decently. I think it's just when the poly count is too high it causes instability just like on the PC version which is why 0.2e crashes more than previous versions. I am told the engine is almost exactly the same on both devices. The controls will be an added extra for example, however everything else underneath will be the same.
  13. Yeah 0.2f has been in development since late 2008. There's not a whole lot of people working on it so it's not a quick development process and these people have lives too so it's not their 1st priority.
  14. Yes, Vice City is known to be unstable on those devices and crash without any modding. With higher poly models the devices just can't cut it. I tried a 818KB Delorean Model on the iPod Touch 4G, just that car and it would crash every time without fail. Where as on an A5 device like iPad 2 it will only crash if it is nearer 2mb in size, this is due to the graphics improvements the A5 brought with it. But those devices are on the way out, especially the almost 4 year old 3GS and 3 year old iPhone 4. Most people will be replacing these devices in the next 1 to 2 years so here's another reason to upgrade They have released Vice City 1.3 for iOS which apparently improves performance but I doubt it would fix crashing issues but just lower the detail of Vice City so the older devices can handle it. I don't think this mod will properly work for these old devices as they use models directly from GTA3.img whereas I will be modding them in veh_high.img which is what A5+ uses. So to even attempt to get it working you would have to manually install the models yourself. The SCM will probably work but without the cars it would be kinda pointless
  15. Well I haven't had much time recently to work on it. The flying DeLorean is a bit of a problem although I think I could release it without thrusters for now. The supported devices is on the opening post. Any A5 iOS Devices and up are supported. Therefore iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 4G is not supported but might work.
  16. It would be much better to use an algorithm as there would be consistent weather patterns across time. If you decide to go back it would be silly to have completely different weather than before.
  17. I haven't worked on much past couple days but I will be over the weekend. I don't think the double tap will work because the functionality that button provides will still be there. So you won't just be going forward with the thrust you'll also be going up. I will see if I can mess with the executable and try and modify the buttons but I doubt I will be able to. However everything else is working now. I am going to start working on moving the Hill Valley map over to mobile too. After those two are done I will be able to start packaging it up after testing for bugs.
  18. Raising Altitude already works There are special controls for helicopters in the mobile version, there is up, down, left and right spin, and an analogue controller for tilt and all that. But there isn't a key I could use for the main acceleration of the DeLorean because it needs a separate button I don't have :3 I could make it so double tap and hold of accelerate does it but I will have to experiment with it
  19. Managed to get the flying delorean to work. Although this one will be tricky because it uses the helicopter controls which have less buttons. Changing the time circuits in flight will be impossible. Maybe even the thrust that pushes the DeLorean forward might be impossible. I will have to experiment more with it but I think I need to sort out the collisions or something as Mr Fusion and the front part are spinning like they're helicopter blades. This will be fixed soon but here is some proof that it works
  20. Yeah you will have to be Jailbroken for this to work. Or be able to install an ipa I guess. There are ways of installing cracked apps without being jailbroken but it costs $99 and involves having a mac and a developer account Or you could jailbreak As I say you only need AppSync and iFunbox which is a windows & mac App which you can download free.
  21. Sounds are now working fully! My solution worked, with putting sounds in the root directory It's perfect for the time travel sequence and DeLorean. The game isn't and I don't think will ever be 100% stable, it is a mod and like the PC version does crash sometimes. While it doesn't crash all that much it does sometimes and it can be slightly annoying I'm looking to release this sometime this month if all goes to plan. It will be a completely seperate app so you can still play normal Vice City. The installer will hopefully download stuff as it goes and install the files into an IPA or installer package. The installer package can then be used to install onto a jailbroken i-Device with AppSync installed. If you have Installous or AppCake then you will be able to install the ipa but you must provide the installer with the game files. Obviously I encourage you buy the game because it's so cheap but if you pirate it there won't be a difference.
  22. On my way to getting sounds working. The Mission Complete sound wasn't playing along with a load of the other ones that are outside of the sfx.RAW file. Turns out it works by deleting the original mp3 from iOSFile.zip and dumping the new mp3 in the games root directory. I love the mission complete sound too The best bit of the overture Not much else to do really, just getting the flying delorean to work which should be fairly easy and shrinking things down.
  23. Managed to get nowheel mod to work! I was doing it wrong haha xD nowheel.dff just needs to be in the root directory of the game files on iOS. But here's a picture of the BTTF3 DeLorean with the classic 50's tyres ;P
  24. I've looked into that. I put nowheel.dff in the files and referenced it in the default.dat I think but made no difference. It's possible someone has figured that one out already, I will look it up later
  25. Yeah but it's like so stock, also gloss makes stuff look really dated now lol xD Noise is a good effect to use, it adds mood to the colour as well as varying it a little. Also just plain colours, no gradients or gloss can look good. Mike has said to me that he will help with creating an installer which is good I have also got the Deloreans models actually working now with all the textures. Turns out it was a case problem, the TXD had it with BTTF in caps and the model had it with bttf in lowercase. I don't know why it took me so long to figure out but it's all working now. I will add some screenshots soon. Going to be working on getting hover mode working Here is a screenshot from my iPhone of the Delorean finally working! Also doing some testing on iPod Touch 4th Gen see how it fairs on the older A4 devices. Bad news :L I think A4 devices are out of the question because the iPod Touch 4G I have isn't even able to render the 818kb Delorean (Not BTTF) without a crash every time. I think this is only going to work on Devices iPad 2+ and iPhone 4S+ and iPod Touch 5G
