  1. I've managed to find a way of creating a whole new app for BTTF:HV Mobile.

My method of installation will be to copy the gtavc.app from the iDevice and then run the installer on it.

A pre-made empty IPA will be made so you can dump the .app file in there and install to the device.

This method allows us to keep GTA:Vice City without deleting or modifying the files of the game.

Instead we are copying Vice City and modding it and then creating and installing a new app.

Here is an image of the icon on my iPad (There are gloss effects but those will be gone)

    EDIT:

    Updated new icon

  2. Well I linked a model up there, basically the textures aren't working properly and I have no idea why.

I've experimented with quite a few things and I think it's just the way the model is setup.

I have tried decompiling it but I can't see how to compile it again and setup the texture mapping.

I'm not that experienced with 3D modelling, as well as modelling or editing for GTA III :P

I improved the logo, I think it's looking almost finished.

I will end up making an icon when I package it all up :D

  3. Yeah, that's what I thought because it uses offsets in the .dat file that are stored in the .txt but I have no idea why it would be doing that.

I thought it might be still in memory and because it's already loaded there's no point reloading the memory.

But a restart would solve that and it doesn't :3

Anyway I'm not working on it anymore tonight, let me know how you get on ^.^

  4. Ok :P

It's real weird, the texture format of mobile is so messed up.

I'm taking a look at PowerVR tools, they might be able to compress the images into a format that works.

I'm looking into this because I tried to change the player texture and it replaced it with a delorean one, makes no sense.

When I deleted the texture it's now just white...

When I look at other textures using TXDf**ker they're either PVR 2bpp or PVR 4bpp which is compression, I can try to compress images using PVRUtilities :P

  5. @RobertBlox Thanks! :P I've spent a lot of time trying to get stuff to work, I'm not really that experienced with modding GTA so I'm learning as I go along :)

    @BTTFModMachine

The Model is ok, but it's not the best one, the ones from later releases are too high poly for the game, whenever I try them it results in a crash every time.

I will make a video once I've finished getting the models to work properly, for some reason a certain texture refuses to render on the Deloreans and they all use it.

I think I'm getting somewhere with it but it's one of those problems that no one else has ever had and it makes no sense xD

As for programming for mobile I can take that two ways.

In terms of GTA, SCM is exactly the same as the PC version, there are a few more opcodes but that's it.

The code running on this is pretty much 0.2e's main.scm, except a few modifications to make it mobile friendly.

In terms of mobile development, I don't know too much about that and if I know anything about it, it's only in terms of iOS, that's just the platform I use personally :P

I would like to get an Android device in the future, but I like my current phone :P

  6. Here is the model, I have an iPod Touch 4G myself, although it's kinda broken (it's a WIP lol) I tried VC on it and it's real bad lol.

It's sooo laggy, I don't know how well this mod will work even even at all :3

However I think more people will be buying newer devices so soon it won't be a problem.

My iPhone 4S and iPad 2 run it perfectly :D

    Here is the link:http://goo.gl/aDctC

By the way the tools are in there.

For the model you will have to import into veh_high.img and gta3.img and delete the current model in there, leave the .col.

For textures copy all the files with gta3hi and gta3img before the . and open the .txt file and import the .txd file.

Do that for both files copy it all across and it should work.

I would make a backup off all modified files before you do this just in case something goes wrong and you probably don't want to have to download again :P

  7. The BTTF 1 Vehicle works with mobile now, I just tried it to fix a bug but it's only the BTTF 1 that it works with.
All of the other higher poly models cause a crash :3

I've been trying to solve an issue with textures on the Delorean, for some reason the textures aren't rendering on the vents and in the general back area, as well as the cables along the sides and partially bits inside the car.
I have pin pointed the problem to a certain texture which is called "BTTF Parts", I extract it from the original TXD and import into the texture cache but anything I try keeps giving me no textures in the areas I said. If anyone knows why this is happening I'd love to know :P
    In other words, Help! :D

Here is a picture of the thing I've been describing

  8. Well I will be releasing a tutorial on how to install it, but I will make an installer.

It will require just copying the files for the game off the device, then running the installer to the copied version and copying it back on.

I can't do installation on the device as the files need to be modified and I don't want to break any copyright laws :3

But I have everything working now.

0.2e and all the features pretty much.

Instant Time Travel works, setting time circuits, even the ride mission.

I am working on getting sounds to work better and testing and trying different models :P

  9. Right, I've pretty much finished the Time Circuits, you can now change the date via the Horn + Direction keys

Horn + Right Moves the selector

Horn + Left Changes the number/date

The tutorial is almost done, at least the first bit, I also have a way of getting the garage to work in a way similar to the way we're used to!

  10. Just took a look at the 0.2e scm and I've figured out what was making it lag and it was a train thread.

I knew that there would be something that was using all of the resources and making it lag.

I tried turning some threads off and when I turn the train thread off it works perfectly!

I think the mobile release will be a 0.2e version :P

  11. Making a Delorean is complete, you just simply park the Delorean in the Garage and you get a BTTF1 Time Machine.

The Libyans also work and the spinning license plate too!

I am working on getting sound to work now, it seems fairly easy to import sounds however again it will be hard to make this automatic on a phone.

  12. Yeah also SA has better graphics overall so hopefully it will cope with those higher poly models :P

Also Doctor you said you had an iPod Touch 4G, I don't know how well the mod will work with that because I know there have been instability problems with that device just with normal Vice City.

I say that because my iPhone 4S seems to randomly crash when starting a game or just after, I also have an iPad 2 and that doesn't do it as much as my iPhone.

Whether it's just because the 4S is a little bit worse than the iPad 2 I dunno but either way it seems to not have a nice time with it.

I have an iPod Touch 4G myself but it's a repair one but I will try this mod on it eventually.

At the moment I have been getting to know SCM coding and it's quite easy and I'm fairly used to the structures of it now so I'm just going to start developing extra bits and modifying bits so that it will work better in a phone environment.

So far I have made the "Delorean Garage" (The one at sunshine autos) so that it converts a normal Delorean into a Time Machine Delorean.

You don't need to press any keys at the moment and it just takes a few seconds for it to make it.

My idea for making the other TM's is to use the seperate save garages at Sunshine Auto's so that each one gives you a different car.

Also one problem I have with things so far is saving, whenever loading a saved game it always results in a crash, whether it's to do with missions I don't know but I'm going to see if the PC version has the same outcome.

  13. Yeah I also know quite a bit about iOS and OS X. For installing i could do it through a debian package but I would have to get the system to copy the game app.

As far as android goes I don't have any Android devices so someone else would have to make a apk for this.

I think SA for iOS is coming, maybe next year because they like doing the 10 year thing. Hopefully then the devices will be more capable of the higher quality textures and models.

  14. Hey again.

Yeah this mod should work with iOS and Android, however installing it on will be a little more difficult.

Due to copyright stuffs, I'll have to release a tutorial with the files and how to put it all on there.

Whether just dragging the games entire directory off and running an installer on it will work I don't know but I'll think of some way.

The radio idea I had as well, I thought it could be useful for changing time circuits but the radio control only uses one key technically.

While it's still useful I don't think there is a way of detecting whether it's going forward or backwards.

  15. Yeah none of those things will help at the moment :3

Cheats might be a way of getting things to activate but the iOS version has no keyboard support and I don't know much about modding iOS apps.

I took a snoop around the gta_vc binary for iOS and there are references to the buttons such as "FEC_ACC" and "FEC_HRN" those being accelerate and the horn buttons.

But obviously this is all compiled so it's a no go editing this as if I did decompile and all that if it were possible it would be illegal to distribute.

At the moment I think I'm going to have to stick with the keys currently there.

I've managed to map out all of the ones that I can use, It's just now modifying the scm so I can edit the time circuits and select a date and time.

To refuel the plutonium you just head to the back of the car and stand there just like 0.2d.

As for the buttons to turn the TC's on/off is Horn + Accelerate.

  16. The buttons are cool :P

However I don't know if I could use them as I can't create buttons as I think they are an embedded part of the binary file.

It would require a lot of work to reverse engineer all that and I wouldn't be able to do it.

Plus we have buttons so we should use the ones we got :P

Anyway I managed to stop other Deloreans from spawning and got the BTTF 1 from the earlier releases of BTTF:HV and also managed to get the font across!

The font isn't perfect, I guess the positioning is slightly different to that of the PC version.

R* really do know how to be annoying as they store the font in a png file and it's just the font on a white or 0 alpha background.

I got there in the end.

    HxmLf4x.png

  17. Hey guys, been messing around a bit with it all in free time.

But actually sitting down and trying to get a way to set the actual date/time on the time circuits.

Just getting all of the codes for the buttons on the game, they are almost the same as the PS2 controller codes.

As for the model Mike's suggestion worked, so thanks! :D

I tried it on my iPhone 4S and it's not the most stable, random crashes when starting up but I don't know whether that is just a glitch in my setup :P

But the BTTF 1 Time Machine works however I think some textures need to be modified because it looks a lil weird in places but I'm sure I can do it.

As for getting the TM's there just spawning like normal cars, I thought they wouldn't but I guess either part of the scm isn't functioning or it's another file or config that changes the spawning of cars.

My guess is that it's in the path files or something but one of the original modders would have to say :P

Anyway I will be keeping people up to date and eventually releasing something that means people can actually use this. But it won't be long :P

  18. Wow, I just put a few hours to this.

I finally finally managed to get functionality!!!!!

I changed minor things in the SCM, I modified the key that needs to be pressed to enable the time circuits to the accelerate and reverse keys on the iOS version (guessing it's the same for android)

I tried various cars and it worked! I was so happy!

The first car I got had the circuits but wouldn't go to 88 only 85 I was so annoyed.

But funnily enough the car that managed to go to 88 happened to be the same car that I changed into a Delorean.

Baring in mind this is only 0.2d code as that doesn't lag a ton when I use it.

Obviously this isn't the same model as the actual Time Machine Delorean but it's as close as anyone has gotten to getting this mod working on the mobile Vice City!

Hopefully someone can help me with converting the models to a lower poly count version (I have tried however textures won't work) and maybe we can get a working version of this mod.

Wouldn't it be great to be anywhere, whip out your phone and start playing this ^.^

Here are some pictures as proof.

Back to the Future : Hill Valley Mobile

Back to the Future Hill Valley was great on your PC, now it's on your Phone and Tablet too!

With Back to the Future:Hill Valley Mobile you can experience Hill Valley at any time, anywhere!

    ---

With the Mobile Edition of BTTF:HV I hope to port across most of the functionality that comes with the 0.2e version of BTTF:HV.

Whilst the game is not all the same and has some features missing, it is largely the same game that you've been used to playing.

However it is greatly improved as you don't have to sit at a desk or have a laptop to play it, you can play anytime with the devices we use every day.

    ---

BTTF:HV Mobile is still in development, however I am close to releasing it for iOS.

As for Android, I am sure this will work on it but I don't have an Android device, if anyone wants to help test for Android that would be great!

    Requirements

Really really unstable don't even bother Devices:

    iPad 1
    iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS
    iPod Touch 4th Gen

    Minimum Devices:

iPhone 4S (Works but can be choppy in places)

iPod Touch 5G (Probably the same as 4S but maybe slightly worse)
    Recommended Devices:
    iPad 2

    iPad Mini

    iPad 3rd Gen

    iPad 4th Gen
    iPhone 5

Grand Theft Auto Vice City purchased and downloaded on device.

    Sync Cable

    A PC

A Jailbroken iDevice running iOS 4.2 or above

Recommended Devices should run BTTF:HV at a good framerate with minimal crashes.

Minimum Devices will run the game but it won't be the best experience that you can get.

Performance of GTA:Vice City is known to be choppy on the Minimum Devices.

A4 and below devices such as iPhone 4 are virtually unplayable without modding so this won't work well at all.
