  1. This reminds me of our university's website. During enrollment week when we usually log-in to the website for an online reservation, the website goes extremely slow because their servers go overload by the thousands of students logging-in.

  2. I tried looking at Crysis' game files, and I found in the Sounds.pak that they're using the .FSB format, which I'm unfamiliar of. Tried searching for an ".FSB player" and found a player named "Music Player Ex", which I have no idea on how to use it.

EDIT: Never mind. Got it working. And by the looks of it, it would take me some time to find the right SFXs. Each FSB file has more than 70 SFXs each. Well on the bright side at least I have tons to choose from, unlike the crappy ones I found at Google.

So far I found the implosion/explosion sounds, which are the 121st, 122nd and 123rd ones in the physics_explosions.fsb, 122nd being the one used by the Crysis BTTF mod. They all perfectly fit for the re-entry explosion.

If you guys find any site containing decent SFXs, like perhaps SFXs from Sci-Fi movies like Simon Wells' Time Machine, Star Trek or Stargate, providing links would be awesome.

  3. Can someone help me find some decent/cool/epic Sci-Fi sound effects? A site, a link, etc.? I'm specifically looking for an alternative for BTTF's implosion/re-entry explosion sounds, like Crysis BTTF mod's (if any of you guys can rip the SFX for me or help me rip it since I do have Crysis, it'd be nice). No, I'm not planning to replace the SA BTTF mod's WAVs with it. I need it for something else that I'm working on.

  4. In my honest opinion, there is no need for an in-mod tutorial at the moment. An instructions ReadMe file would be fine. You can just print the ReadMe, or take notes from it to a paper, then learn as you play.

I barely follow the site, so I don't go insane.

I often follow the site more than anyone else here in the forums, but I don't go insane. :P

  5. If you're talking about the full detail/accuracy of the core features (coil glows, sparks, etc). they are doing so because 0.2d/0.2e/0.2f will be the last of the versions of the mod where they'll add the core features. In the rest of the versions after 0.2f, they'll just be adding missions or mission-based features.

If they try making them movie accurate after they add the missions, it will cause more problems for the modders than the crashes we have right now, come to think of it. In the worst case scenario for the coders, they might come to a point that they'll need to rewrite a part of the code, which would most likely lead to the rewriting of another part of the code (and another and another). The time they need to do so won't delay the release (and make the mod look dead), but the lack of time the coders have in their hands to do so will.

Also, there is a very good reason why the mod is called public beta. :P

Modding is all about step-by-step modification of the game. So, imo, it would be best if we have the movie-accurate core features and the debugging now and the adding of the missions/mission-based features later, instead of the other way around.

  6. Which is the reason why Mike and the guys no longer upload any pre-beta/alpha files to the site anymore, until most or all of the planned features are included. The pre-beta/alpha files are now available for IFT investors as well, whereas it used to be accessible to us mods only.

  7. with that money, you can get your own delorean!!, or you could hire someone from rockstar to help us out with the mod!!!.

or you can blow it all in vegas. LOL

EDIT: its not ledgit, ITS A FAKE!!, if it was ledgit, they would have contacted you by mail not email, thats what my dad says anyway.

True. Microsoft always send stuff like these through mail. Furthermore, they would likely announce it in their website and prolly anywhere else before the event/activity.

This hoax is more than a year old, I believe.

  8. LOL Same here. I never knew this whole skypokemon problem is months old.

I'm glad he didn't bother me either. He prolly didn't saw my CLEO mods thread, and/or saw me as a noob in coding/modding, otherwise he might have asked me to code for him.

  9. Looks more like the old "clicked Post Reply button twice or more" button issue. I experienced this once before, and unlike skypokemon above the duplicate post was made 4 minutes after the original (slow net connection or impatience or both are to blame). Gonna delete his second post, and let this pass...for now. Consider this a "pre-warn".
