  1. Welcome to the forums, Agent Smith.

Did you remove the read-only flag from the VC folder before installation? The files which contain audio and models are set to read only by default and sometimes processes can't overwrite them. You have to remove the Read-Only flag from the Properties of the whole GTA:VC folder before installing any mod.

    Hope it helps.

  2. HAHAHA, OH WOW... Being able to "Use Vechiles" :P

Dude, you need to have some work already done before actually announcing and recruiting.

In other words: Start developing it yourself before asking for help (you're not doing it here, but on your forums, I mean).

  3. Could you have taken the pictures any smaller and farther away?... </sarcasm> It's like you completelly missed my post...

Anyone could have made that, specially removing the textures for the DeLorean.

And Ruth's "Froch" Shop... Woah :(

  4. Finished reading the thread.

STexturer, I suppose you're not even 17 yet...

Now, we won't be downloading any reference images you post through Mediafire. As you already have a ImageShack account, so you can just post them with [ IMG ] tags. Being that the mod team also takes part on the board's moderation, you'll need to have those skills.

Speaking of skills, please, show us proper, detailed (meaning with a higher resolution than 640X480), closed-up images of your work -or at least a snapshot of the texture file itself- or no deal.

Sorry but, as DK said, not impressed with the previous edits.

  5. Great, you're off to a good start. Great thing that you're beginning to use professional tools from the start, so you can get to know them better. I haven't even started to use the full features of the program.

Now, with the model itself: When you're trying to mimic a model that exist in real life, there's one thing that -sorry for the clichè- makes a difference: Proportions, everything has to be on a certain scale in comparison with another part of the model itself. That's why, before starting with a model, I recolect the biggest amount of pics I can find, from different angle, to see everything in a different perspective. That being said, you should lower the height of the upper part and, of course, rescale the clock. Scaling applies to textures too, because bricks can't be as long as half a window.

Also, remember key details when making the model; specially if they're going to be used (or, in the case of the movie, are used for the plot). For example:

    - Doc has to grab the clock to hold himself, so the clock needs an outer border (and preferably modeled hands).

    - Doc has to walk on the upper part, so there must be a ledge, but small enough to look dangerous.

    - There has to be a pair of gargoyles for Doc to hang on and to have obstacles before reaching the cable (good luck with those :P)

    - Doc came from a door, so that door must be there.

For references, you can use the model of a person to know if your measurements are correct.

As for texturing: Remember surfaces have different texture and react to light. You can use normals and Photoshop to get the feel you want.

Happy modeling and hope it helps :D

@carlos wouldn't he have to take it up with telltale not you guys

Of course he has to take it up to TTG for permission to release. I'm talking about any download link posted here, on the forums, if no permission from the original creators is granted.

Anyway, Trance, good to know you're already aware :D. Keep up the good work! just watch out for any C&D letters :zipped: which hope no-one gets.

  7. We all appreciate it, but I think we (Mod Team) have to discuss about allowing any download link regarding any of TTG's property (models, textures...). If the models had been made by you, there would be no problem, but this is someone else's work and property. So, please hold that release until we discuss it.

    ---

Same circumstances as 1985-A. Doc and Marty were visitors, while their doppelgängers were in the asylum (since 1983) and Switzerland, respectively; but now, Doc won't live beyond 90 by getting a Natural Overhaul.

  9. It's a paradox (this is a try of translation):

If Doc never became a scientist, then he won't invent the time machine, which implies that Doc and Marty never traveled trough time, which makes Doc become a scientist, invent the time machine, travel trough time, making Doc never becoming a scientist, which prevents Doc and Marty from travelling trough time, making Doc a scientist, invent the time machine, travel trough time, making Doc never becoming a scientist, etcetera, etcetera...

¡Jajajá, qué ocurrente, doctor!... Ha estado usted... razonando fuera del recipiente... /lesluthiers

    ---

Hahaha, how witty, doctor!... You've been... reasoning outside the bedpan... /lesluthiers

In this situation, Doc is still a scientist. He himself said that thank to the fight he had with his father before Marty went away gave him the guts to quit his job at the Courthouse and dedicate his life fully to Science. Simply, his life went on another path, using Science for socioeconomic goals influenced by Edna when he didn't see "Frankenstein" and went away with her. He probably invented the flux capacitor, constructed the DeLorean and went to his originally-planed date: 2010, but he never befriended Marty. Marty's a visitor in this timeline just as Doc and Marty were in 1985-A. No paradox here.

  10. SPOILER:
Good Points Carlos85G but if doc didn't go to the future shouldn't Mr.fusion and the hover conversion disappear once marty arrived to 1986?

    SPOILER:

Most likely, unless he went to his original desired date -October 26th, 2010- 25 years into the Future and possibly natural overhauls weren't invented yet, but hover conversions and Mr. Fusion were.

Maybe because of the timeline change, some systems on the DeLorean are now faulty or nonexistent (you can see sparks coming out of the electronics just before the screen goes white).

  11. SPOILER:

What I find weird is Doc's disappearing at the end, by all logic presented to us in BTTF 2, he should have stayed where(and what) he is, and the new overpedantistic Doc would still rule HV. Well, we'll see.

    SPOILER:

It has been explained on TTG's community that Doc dissapeared because he didn't have natural overhauls and didn't live to be almost 100 in this timeline, so we only have First Citizen Brown (72) and no good ol' Doc (around 96) in this orwellian dystopia.

First Citizen Brown probably has still invented the time machine, but he and Marty weren't friends and he didn't go to the Future; maybe that's why the DeLorean hasn't dissappeared.

Marty remains by the same logic of 1985-A.
