MAC modding

Hi guys,
Ok so today i downloaded GTA onto my mac directly from the app store,
I know it is possible to install this mod into a mac version of this game as it basically works the same way except all files and folders are located in a different area. I ran the auto installer and it replaced everything fine into the folders and where they should be, so thats the mod installed. But the game won't start up and i don't think this is due to the mods problem, When the game is double clicked it comes up with a error saying that video 640X480 cannot be found. Im told that GTA specifically looks and checks for this resolution on start up, and if unable to detect, fails to start, with this computer being a mac a doubt that the resolution would go that low, so is there any way to get the game to stop checking for this resolution?
