scene of lighting and hook

Question

-When lighting strikes the tower the game crashes wherever i am.

-When i insert the hook into Delorean in date 12 nov 1955 the game crashes.

I confirm that there's this bug another time .... I'm not able to see this working!!!

Both, can you try this.

When in 1985, select the BTTF 1 DeLorean W / Hook.  Exit the car and put up the hook.

Then, load the plutonium chamber and travel to Nov 12th 1955 (with the hook up), you should then be able to perform the clocktower lightning run.

noticed a crash with lightning run but could be 1 or 2 or both of the following factors.

I sent a BTTF 2 via RC to arrive in hill valley near clocktower @ NOV 12th 1955 10:04pm

I then got a BTTF 1 w/ hook and put hook up filled plutonium and travelled to our fave date.

I then proceeded to complete clocktower run in rc mode.

everything went fine up to point to lightning actually striking clocktower, then the game froze at the point when lightning had hit BTTF 1 del just as BTTF 2 was arriving at the same point.

 

just my 2 cents..pennies...euro....depending which country you're in :)

I tried this method but the mod doesn't work at all ... Everything is ok except clocktower mod.

I tried this method but the mod doesn't work at all ... Everything is ok except clocktower mod.

That's a complete contradiction.  'the mod doesn't work at all'     'Everything is ok except clocktower mod'

Before the update, I was able to perform the lightning run after doing these steps:

  1. Take the DeLorean at Vercetti's and convert it to BTTF1 Time Machine with hook.
  2. Put up the hook right after.
  3. Pick up the plutonium, escape the libyans and travel to Nov 12 1955 10:03 PM
  4. Watch the lightning strike the Clocktower.
  5. Go back to 10:02 PM at the starting line.
  6. Wait until the car clock rings and go at 88 MPH towards the cable.
  7. Watch the cutscene.

Now, when I do the 4th step, the game just crashes.

I edited the HillValley.sc file leaving the "in_zone" line commented and replacing it with the line above of it.

00F6:   player $PLAYER_CHAR 0 -1552.781 907.9139 32.1378 radius 50.0 50.0 50.0
//0121:   player $PLAYER_CHAR in_zone 'Hill_V'  // Hill Valley 

It worked for me, the game doesn't crash when doing the Lightning Run.

I edited the HillValley.sc file leaving the "in_zone" line commented and replacing it with the line above of it.

00F6:   player $PLAYER_CHAR 0 -1552.781 907.9139 32.1378 radius 50.0 50.0 50.0
//0121:   player $PLAYER_CHAR in_zone 'Hill_V'  // Hill Valley 

It worked for me, the game doesn't crash when doing the Lightning Run.

crashes for me :( I even compiled and copied (F7)

Try using my main.scm file. Additionally, I've added a code that removes traffic and pedestrians from Hill Valley area at Nov 12 1955 after 21:00 hours.

You're absolute, positively, beyond 1,000,000% certainty NOT allowed to re-distribute a main.scm. Other than redistributing and claiming the models as your own, that's been the number one no-no since like, the ModDB days.

Feel free to post it back up. You weren't claiming it as your own. Simply offering a fix. 

 

Plus the code is effectively open source now. That's why we included the source code so folks can tweak and edit the mod to suit their needs.  Of course if they release our code for a different mod then of course they should at least credit the original creators.

That's not it. Dragon King actually commented out 00F6 and added 0121 in because he believed it fixed the lightning run crash. But as you know it didn't. So it crashed with the old method as well as the new. That it seems to work on few attempts is just luck, as the crash seems to be caused by a combination of unlucky chances which you don't always get.
