bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 settling on something like this
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Thinking of ways to start the animation. Thought of this, but then also forgot that it was going to look the same no matter what. So back to the VC way
Orgcon 11 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 I think the VC way looks the best. It'll look better when you have sparks bouncing all over the place too!
Joe Statler 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 It'll look better when you have sparks bouncing all over the place too! still waiting on that
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 And that gives something like this Ignore the plasma. I haven't set it up with the speed yet.
daangelo29 5 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 That's the problem about 2D effects. Unless we make it to a 2-sided object with textures on each and a glow which will look ridiculous and ugly, it would ALWAYS look the same in any angle. And isn't this also the case in VC, too? archer9234 20 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 I wish there was a way to disable the 2d camera rotation crap. SA and VC can't do it, but you can in Duke Nukem. Stupid R*.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 what rotation?
archer9234 20 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 The rotation all 2D objects do to keep them always looking at the camera.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 lol, oh. Then it'd look flat
Dragon King 15 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Well what's really too bad is that we can't make a custom wormhole to do the things we want if it's going to be affected by the camera angle.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 so true...oh well
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 if it weren't for the darn 2dfx, we could have something like this Even if the rest of it isn't as good as ours (well, coils might be better then vc's), the wormhole is def better.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 hmm, actually it might be possible to do something like that....but i fear it will look bad.
Dragon King 15 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Here's an idea that shouldn't be taken seriously. You saved a lot of coding space by not using the glows for the coils right? What if we used that saved space to make our own wormhole animation. like someone models the different parts of the wormhole animation from the film and make it all bright and stuff. Then you can code it so the model changes throughout the whole time travel sequence ^^. I know too much work and it isn't worth it but it's just a joke anyways
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Umm, thats what I was inferring...create a wormhole model. Btw, space is not an issue with cleo.
Dragon King 15 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 oh stupid me, lol. I didn't know that you were already thinking that. Wow what a coincidence.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 problem is i don't know if it was doable. I was thinking a hybrid actually using the glow as the base and having the flow be modeled. But thats for another time.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 ok, looking at that screensaver again, here's how they did it. Multiple curved ribbons that are randomly generated and create a glowing type wormhole when bunched together.
Microman 85 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 You can maybe do that with the particle you used for the wheels The screensaver remind me when the particle was too long ...
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 i rather not for the wheels, lol. and more playing around with wormholes. Found render flags. Thats the SA wormhole btw, not the VC.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Problem is during the day Kinda Personally, i like the newer blend ids better then the old one.
bluespace88 9 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 was curious to see how the bttf3 wormhole looked like.
