  1. Hey guys, good news. The Sky dimension is now known as "The End" dimension, the home of creepy sh*t called Endermen and Enderdragons. Awesome.

(Not that I hate it, though. It's nice they come up of it. The idea is more original and more fantasy-like than it being a sort of the opposite of the Nether which will just be a theme borrowed from Judeo-Christian religions. I personally prefer the Nether as a kind of mix between Greek myth's Hades, as the place of the undead, and the Judeo-Christian hell, with the alchemy, demonic-looking netherbrick structures and stuff. I have still yet to figure out The End's role and description as a dimension, though.)

  2. Hmm. Just checked out the MC Wiki. They seem to have taken off "Beta 1.10" from the "upcoming features" list. And Beta 1.9 will likely be released before October 18. Sounds like good news. Provided that it is true that there won't be another beta and they'll proceed with the full release from this point, I may go back to playing Minecraft again.

Minecraft looks fun, I'm not sure if I should Get it. I know a lot of people like it, since it takes a step out of real life.

This reminded me of someone I found randomly in Facebook who posted in his (publicly-viewable) FB wall about his promotion. When people started asking how a Minecraft addict like him did it, most especially when it was the time when one of the first beta versions was released, he asked "Last time you guys told me to get a life, you called me a workaholic. So now you're telling me the same thing again because I'm playing Minecraft. So I guess it's safe to ask this time what does an 8-bit Java game has anything to do with my life or career?" Which is followed by "Can you guys make up your mind? XD" Made my day. ;p

I hope they stay in the Ender though and don't make it in the overworld.

I hope so, too. 'Cuz Enderdragons roaming around the 'natural world' would really ruin the atmosphere. Me thinks they might only spawn in the Ender as a special/boss mob (probably being able to tame them as a cool reward) so no Enderdragons spawning naturally in the natural world. Perhaps they would only end up in the natural world if you bring them there (when tamed).

Sadly animals still despawn. I had a little farm in my garden but now all animals are gone.

That will probably get fixed in full B1.9. I even feel the animal breeding and taming ain't complete yet.

That's why I keep looking at Endermen every now and then. Just because I find it funny how they teleport towards me, suddenly seem to be gone and then bite my ass :D. I've got to check what happens if I try that while standing in water, as they are hydrophobic.

You know we were talking about potions, right? :P

  3. Never seen this one before XD

That's a part of the mod.

As if Endermen and Silverfish weren't enough

Dragons were planned and thought of way before these guys. :P

I don't really see the point of negative potions  Sounds like a sensible idea if you wanted to revert back to normal if the effects lasted for ages, but they wear off after about a minuet anyway so they are pointless. And being able to poison yourself also sounds like a stupid idea. <_<

Don't have a problem with it at the moment. Can't say it's just for the LOLz, though. If it is going to be a sort of weapon, it would imbalance the game as we already have the good old craft-able weapons and even an enchantment book for it, too. A simplest explanation for it is that it's some sort of consequence for trying to experiment with different forms of formulas (that is, without checking the Wiki). It is alchemy, after all. Or it could be a useful plot drive or element for the upcoming adventure mode or something.

And speaking of farm animals, I was honestly hoping for something like taming them by earning their trust while they are young. But then I thought we're talking about barnyard animals, so I guess making a ranch out of them instead of turning them to some sort of pets is a better idea. (LOL)

  4. I wonder what breeding would be mostly *for*. As farm animals, perhaps?

Me thinks when you raise them while they're young, you'll earn their trust and form a farmer-type relationship with them. Then finally as farm animals, you have to continuously take care of them, making sure they don't die off as they are then utterly dependent on their farmer. And perhaps also another purpose for having a pet wolf, like having a shepherd dog or something. It would really be awesome idea to have a ranch.

And speaking of wolves, I wish for more purposes for our pets than just as hunt dogs or combat companions or a cure for SSP loneliness. Perhaps, we can have something like giving them certain items, each suggesting a specific command, like stand guard and watch out for enemies or look for food.

  5. (Accidentally deleted this post (again))

Is that what I think it is? Holy freaking crap. I really hope so. Finally the ability to write in books in the vanilla game.

EDIT: OR it's the "enchantment table" Notch was talking about. Damn. I was hoping for something like writable books. >_<

Btw, just like the huge shrooms before, I have mixed feelings about the upcoming potions and brewing system, along with the enchantment thing I've mentioned above. But now they're starting to grow on me. Either I have a few interests in alchemy, or I personally prefer calling the potions "drugs" -- I dunno, it helps beat my dislike or disinterest towards having too much 'supernatural' or magical stuff in a game like Minecraft by calling them realistic names (LOL). I, however, have yet to think of a name for the new enchantment book. I hope it's gonna be some type of 'tool' for the village priest or something.

  6. You can't really tell if it's gonna rock or suck if it ain't out yet.

However, one feature that I'm looking forward to in the game is the cause-and-effect gameplay, where everything the past Spider-Man does may affect his future counterpart.

I suggest you guys check out some reviews once it's out. Then from there you can tell if it will be awesome or awful.

Another game I'm also looking forward to that will also have similar concepts -- time travel and past/future counterparts helping each other out -- is Sonic Generations.

  7. Just noticed the difference after a few more testing. It could be because of the new biome generation code. Well this is just a pre-release or a 'beta of a beta'. Complaining about it right now would to me be like the people at the Sophos, who just recently complained about the new built-in anti-virus of the upcoming Windows 8 based on a preview version. ;P

Who knows? It might be a lot better in terms of visuals AND performance than the old biome code. Let us save our temper for any possible flaws in the full B1.9.

Btw, I'm loving the new upcoming features for both B1.9 and B1.10, like the new upcoming Enderman and animal behaviors (though I hope for more improvement for all other mobs). B1.10 is definitely worth the wait for me. Unless there'll be ANOTHER freaking beta, then I'll just go for the full version at November.

  8. I'll try looking into Vice City, which I don't have installed at the moment.

Endermen teleport to dodge arrows. Endermen teleport out of water when they touch it. Endermen teleport a lot more...

Oh wow. I once considered one of Notch's tweets as that of someone offended (by the bad feedback of his new mob). And I was never expecting this. This is WAY better.

Btw, while the Endermen will have their own sounds, I kinda prefer the silent pre-B1.9 Endermen over the zombie-like moaning of the B1.8 Endermen. This is really when its creepy nature is starting to grow on me.

  9. I already mentioned the Magma Cubes in one of my previous posts. They're like the slime versions, except the tiny ones can also inflict damage.

And I've always figured that the experience orb is, for the most part, for the once pointless score system.

EDIT: In a GTA-related note, I was looking at the TXDs in San Andreas's IMGs, and I never thought they would look good as a texture pack for Minecraft. Come to think of it, it has good textures for wood (ALL 3 types of trees), planks, iron, fences, iron bars, doors, stone, saplings, glass, sand, dirt, grass, wild grass, and even cacti. I may just actually turn it to a texture pack in the future. XD

  10. I thought strongholds are suppose to replace or 'update' the old traditional dungeons. Were they?

If not, though, I hope someone makes a mod where the strongholds and dungeons are merged into one, where there are adequate number of mob spawners within the strongholds -- about 1-2 I think, depending on the stronghold's size. That is until they get updated for what they were supposed to be for.

...and also probably to keep them from being generated as merged or mixed up with ravines or abandoned mines, which make them look like Endermen griefed the place or something. Me thinks if they are to intersect, they should blend well.

  11. I said it was *just* an idea. :P

It's "What IF they would only come to life at night (after building them)?" Even if you try to build them using the right ingredients of snow and pumpkin at day, they wouldn't turn into living snowmen because it lacks the third ingredient, which is the night's magical darkness. I dunno. Just a thought.

Again, this new mushroom biome is now growing on me. I'd like to believe the fungi growing around the dirt of the biomes could be some kind of 'hostile mob', and just like any hostile mobs they have this weird and nasty aggressive nature, but instead of the player they would attack or 'infect' poor cows kinda like a virus and allow their mushroom friends to grow on them. Just something I thought of when I was watching ChimneySwift's recent pre-B1.9 vids.

  12. I don't really know what to think about the mushroom biome, mooshrooms and its relatives. Right now it souds like Notch/Jeb's biggest brainfart so far.

Well, yeah, I agree. Though I did admit the biome is now growing on me (mainly because of the fungi terrain), I still have those mooshrooms as my problem. I'm wishing for a future mod that keeps mushroom biomes from ever generating. That is, not really for pure hate of it but for those who want the good old and more natural MC worlds.

While I now feel that the mushroom biome looks better with this kind of terrain, I prefer obtaining the huge mushrooms through the good old B1.8 bone meal method. Don't you think?

  13. Buggy? the official 1.8.1 is buggy as hell, I don't think anymore bugs at this point would be noticable...

Yeah, I may exaggerated the "buggy" part a bit. It was like 3 in the morning when I made that post. And, yeah, I forgot to post the link so sorry about that.

I just saw the MC Wiki and I say they're pretty fast with updating their info. As well as tracking those new features, including those that early pre-B1.9 testers didn't find before like the fungi-infested terrain in the mushroom biomes, the villager's roles (explaining the different clothes bit), and one of the villager's name as "TESTIFICATE". LOL.

And the mooshroom feels like a cheat to me. It has leather, beef/steak, red mushrooms and even mushroom stew if you milk it using a bowl. I dunno. I haven't tried the pre-release myself -- just checking out testers' vids and pics ATM -- so basically I ain't sure if mooshrooms are a type of rare mob that requires luck finding, but still the idea of the mushroom biome is starting to grow on me, especially with the cool new fungi-like grass.

  14. A (buggy) pre-release of 1.9 has been released, and it has these new Nether features that seem to make little sense. Apart from the new Netherrack bricks and fences, and the Nether ruins, we also have these guys/stuff:

    SPOILER:
    - Blazes, who can fly and fire fireballs at the player, and have gold rod-like things revolving around them. They seem to only spawn at spawners located at Nether ruins, and drop one of these rods when they die.

    - The Nether fire-y or lava-like version of the slimes, which behave exactly like slimes.

    - Ghasts, which seem to now spawn fewer than before, now drop their 'tears', or "Ghast tears".

    - Zombie pigmen now drop a "gold nugget" after death, nine of which can be crafted into a gold ingot.

    - A weird-looking plant in the Nether, called "Nether warts", which grow on soul sand.

With the gold references above, I'm guessing the Nether is now a haven for both hellish stuff and gold. Most Nether items, except the gold nuggets, seem to be useless as of the moment.

In the surface world, in the other hand, we now have water lilies, dark purple/violet swamp water, those weird red mushroom cows, villagers with closed arms and each having a different outfit, and the new pet snowmen or "snow golems".

  15. Decided to wait for B1.8.2 patch after seeing the Wiki... even though I'm just gonna get rid of the experience orbs via MCP anyway. I hope ain't just an experience orbs fix.

In another note, more and more I see Endermen as NPC griefers than the type of creepy Weeping Angel-like mobs Notch planned. The way they randomly pick up and place blocks around can be a bit of a grievance, especially if it's a really beautiful and good world. Keep Steve locked inside his home and leave MC running for at least a week to come back and find a mess. I'm hoping there's more to the picking up of blocks thing in the future versions. Perhaps, at the very moment, modders could develop a mod that keeps Endermen from picking up blocks unless when 'threatened', where they would pick up and use blocks simply as weapons.

  16. Is the server updated for B1.8.1?

Btw, I'm currently working on how I should design my tree house in Creative mode while waiting for MCP to get updated. While I have played MC Classic a lot before finally trying out Alpha/Beta, I feel Creative mode spoils the game for me. But hopefully, the mods I'll be using would make up for that. Would upload some pics once I'm done, or at the very least almost done.

  17. (Accidentally deleted this post. Glad I have the Lazarus add-on.)

That, or it's your Java Runtime Environment / JRE. Make sure you only have ONE version of JRE. If you're using a x86/32-bit OS, use only the 32-bit JRE. If it is x64, use only 64-bit. It tends to lag like f*ck if you launch a huge Java program with two versions of JRE installed and running at the same time, even if you're using a high-end rig. Well, it IS Java.

@Coolest: If you're going to change your pass, you might wanna check this out... :)

Btw, I don't like where B1.9 is going. I like the new nether-rack and soul sand bricks. It sounds like they're expanding the 'adventure' part of the Adventure Update up (or 'down') to the Nether. But... 'Mooshrooms'? Glad that the MC Coder Pack hasn't been updated yet. More time for me to decide whether to continue waiting for B1.9 or stick with B1.8 'till full release.
