  1. LOL. I see. You should've pointed that one earlier.

By the looks of it, it could be the result of making Los Santos larger. Either the observatory adjusted to the North, or the beach and pier are adjusted to the south. It could be a sign that we're going to have a much different and perhaps larger version of Los Santos.

EDIT: Here's a cool and well-done scene-by-scene analysis of the trailer by iGTA5.com. They seem to have spotted pretty much everything we should've seen or recognized in the trailer -- names, brands, places, vehicles, planes, the "San Andreas" license plate, peds and their clothing/tattoos/animations/interactions, what the homeless man's sign said, the "Glory Hole" store, etc.

  2. It's a lighthouse, not an observatory. :P

It makes sense, though, that it should be where the yacht harbor is because the two are originally a little too far away from each other (assuming that yacht harbor also serves as a dock).

So either they really moved it, or it's a different building, or the original is replaced with a new one which is now in the middle, or it's just the poster that has the lighthouse in the middle. To me, the 2nd and last are most likely, telling from Santa Monica Pier from which the yacht harbor / Pleasure Pier is based, but we'll have to see.

  3. As the diehard gta fans know, this pier doesn't contain a rollercoaster while the one in the new trailer does, so that's a bit awkward. But as we know, this story seems to be placed after the story of CJ because in the trailer there are several places who've been build already while the ones in San Andreas aren't ready yet.

If there'll be a roller coaster, then it's basically an expansion of the original pier, which featured only a Ferris wheel. Nothing "awkward" to me.

And note that "GTA: San Andreas" took place in the '90's. GTA V is about a more recent Los Santos, or a "re-imagined, present-day Southern California" as Rockstar said in their site.

That's enough time for businessmen and other rich people to take over Los Santos -- thus the car manufacturer Brute's oil pumps around the city, the new golf course (which probably an expansion of the original tennis courts), the possibly larger Pleasure Pier, people slumming under a bridge, the banknote-looking "V" in the logo, and the story's focus on "the pursuit of the almighty dollar."

I'm definitely looking forward to this game. And it's not just the larger map, but also Sam Houser himself describing it as a "radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe" and also Take-Two calling it "a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer" which may mean an almost entirely new and unique GTA game that's probably cooler than all other previous games combined. Crossing my fingers. :D

Gonna buy me more PS3 games this week. I still got that Roland AX-Synth in my wish list, but that will have to wait for next year.

  5. The huge mountain in the trailer could be Mt Chiliad...and that was part of SF not LS in San andreas. And those oil things could be in the LV desert....and yeah, it looks like Tommy Vercetti

I've been playing San Andreas for a long time -- and I mean as long as from 2005 up until today -- and I can tell you that it's neither Los Santos nor San Fierro. It's outside both cities, or rather in between them. :P

Well anyway, so far in the trailer we can be sure that it will be Los Santos and the surrounding countryside with the Vinewood sign, the very familiar-looking beach, Mount Chiliad, and the sprayed crops in what seems to be Flint county (finally, there are actually crops growing on there, LOL). And while I still think San Fierro and Las Venturas may mean a lot of work (without seriously screwing up some or most of the story and missions, among others), it would definitely rock if they actually do it.

  6. Minecraft-The-End-2-Pre-Release-41.jpg

In my opinion, the new "End" dimension in Minecraft looks a lot more like celestial rocks in outer space, than floating islands in the over-world/natural world's skies.

The top of the End is utterly black and looks like static, and the place is utterly dark, which make it look like the place is further away from the sun, the moon and even the stars. And the Endermen do look like extraterrestrials in this dimension.

Considering all of this, it does make a lot of sense why it's called the "End".

Slimes not restricted to y0-16 anymore.

I don't mind the layer restriction. I however do about the invisible slime spawn blocks.

  7. everyone on this forum is so easily pleased and takes the greatest of offense when someone happens to disagree.

Easily pleased? Pfft. I immediately uninstalled GTA IV after finishing the story and doing a few of silly stuff. Then went back. Even if I can do a lot of, I still feel unsatisfied without mods to 'warp' the game to what I wish it to be. :P

I agree with the registration part. It may likely be for 'authorization' purposes, to confirm that you're using a legit copy by checking your serial number online. In fact, last time I checked those who tried to pirate GTA IV found out the only way to successfully crack the game is to hack the Rockstar Games Social Club app.

But for the graphics part, no, I don't think GTA IV is mostly about the graphics. Nor even the weird rag doll physics. As a GTA game, it has lots to offer in terms of gameplay.

Angelo, I guess you misunderstand the point of those people: as far as I understand it, they want Rockstar to COMPLETELY REBUILD Los Angeles and to even CALL it LA. That's the difference to Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas.

Well indeed rebuilding would be awesome, no doubt they will if it is gonna be based from Los Angeles, but I currently don't see a good reason of naming it the same as the real-world city it will be based from. Rockstar has long been making up their own names for their cities, to better fictionalize and parody them with pop-culture and other media references -- just as Houser said, "Grand Theft Auto is America when viewed/filtered purely through advertising and movies."

A bit of realism would be cool, but naming it "LA" would be breaking off from that tradition. I say "Los Santos" will be a more likely name as the San Andreas city was after all based from Los Angeles.

As for Las Venturas and San Fierro, I'm not sure with that. Adding the Las Vegas and San Francisco-based cities may mean a lot of work for this game. I say a larger revamped Los Santos with its surrounding countryside would be enough. But then we have the game's former codename "Rush" which sounds like a reference to San Francisco, so I could be wrong.

So it's either Los Santos with countryside, or San Fierro with countryside ("Rush" codename), or Las Venturas with countryside (the banknote-looking "V"), or the entire San Andreas, or an entirely different city/state. Either way, though, let's hope it's gonna be an awesome map.

Btw, "Miami Vice" is a TV series. Both the GTA game and the TV series are based from Miami, Florida. :P

  8. B1.9 Pre-Release 5 (or should I say "B1.9.5" since there won't be a full B1.9 anyway) released. Reddit post with the download links here.

One of the new features -- The Enderdragon's head is now its Achilles' heel.

You can finally hurt it by attacking its head. Reminds me of Chaos from "Sonic Adventure" and the bosses in "Silent Scope", among others. Upon (its epic) death, it rises up to the air, glows purple and then finally disintegrates, along with some explosion textures as it does.

But in this version you'll be needing a mob spawner or a mod to spawn it and test it out.

  9. Incorporating 'modifications' made in a world into the seed system doesn't seem like a bad idea. But then it won't be easy, as it may mean complete overhaul of the seed system and even perhaps the world generation code, which may not be nice as a post-full version update. Our current seeds can't identify each individual block in a world.

EDIT: MineBox 360 -- A Minecraft-themed Xbox 360 as one of the prizes to be won in Minecon's / Curse's Diamond Deposit Scavenger-Hunt sweepstakes. Makes me wanna wish I could go to Minecon (I, however, don't want a X360 though).

  10. I was up playing it all night, I still haven't made it to kingship yet but the journey to it is awesome, better than than bog standard survival mode.

Yeah. I wish Notch implements something like this as a gameplay mode alongside survival, creative and survival hardcore, as probably a sort of an expansion pack or something, after the full version.

On a side note, the mod works well with the MO' Creatures mod, I only added it so I could have horses but I havent seen a single one yet. :(

If you worry about not finding horses, I on the other hand have spent hours looking for a freaking wolf to tame. My original spawning point is in a pine forest, where wolves should be more common (or so I'm told). So far, after hours of coming across about 6 biomes so far in one save (a new record for me), growing tons mushrooms with bone meal, getting killed by creepers and headless zombies (the latter courtesy of Misa and the RandoMobs mod) and also finding my very first diamonds since B1.6, there's still no freaking sight of one.

EDIT: Just remembered something. Cocoa beans. They may likely be finished in post-full version updates, but I wished that they would've finished it sooner. This has been around for awhile. But I dunno. It may just be like the apple, a special type of food item or something. Or perhaps it will be a part of the potion brewing and in this case we may finally have a cocoa plant in the full version itself. Crossing fingers.

  11. Changed the utterly generic "Minecraft" to "Minecraft: Buildings, Contraptions, Griefing, Et Al."

On another note, I hope the whole "feature freeze" doesn't mean Minecraft 1.0 would simply be just beta 1.9 without the "beta" and the bugs. As I've told Orgcon and guys in my Facebook wall, Minecraft 1.0 should actually be a complete version, with all of the important or basic features implemented. Any post-1.0 updates should be optional or expansion packs.

    Btw, nice mod find Orgcon.

  12. I was realy suprised when I heard it on the news yesterday, and they said that Bill Gates was 1 of his best frends, I don't know why it surprised me, but it did.

That's probably because of the old belief that Apple and Microsoft are competing with each other. Which is and probably was not true. I think Jobs has already cleared it all up a long time ago when they announced they wanted the Microsoft Office suite for their Mac OS.

    SPOILER:
"If we want to move forward and see Apple healthy and prospering again, we have to let go of a few things here. We have to let go of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose. We have to embrace a notion that for Apple to win, Apple has to do a really good job. And if others are going to help us that's great, because we need all the help we can get, and if we screw up and we don't do a good job, it's not somebody else's fault, it's our fault. So I think that is a very important perspective."

Yes they are best friends because their past and the long-aging belief that they're still competing made them closer, eventually seeing each other as simply a part of the same small group of people who work together to change the world forever, than as a rival. ;)

In fact, Apple would be more concerned about fellow competing computer companies like Dell -- whose founder had an argument with Jobs before when he said they would "shut it (Apple) down and give the money back to the shareholders" if ever they bought and owned Apple, but just before Apple surpassed Dell's market cap -- than software companies like Microsoft.

    Once again, RIP Steve Jobs.

  13. Creepy little things aren't they, with Misa's texture pack? :P

Speaking of, can't wait for the Enderdragon. It uses the explosion texture when destroying blocks, so...

    Misa's Enderdragon + Enderdragon's uber-griefing power + Misa's realistic explosion textures = O_O

    " width="600px" height="361px">
    " />
    " width="600px" height="361px" allowFullScreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" />

  14. NVM, I miss read it, hes going to try and release a pre-release every week on his twitter untill the final release at Minecon.

Sounds like more good news. The pre-release ones after B1.9 may be for the full release itself.

Enderdragons will luckily not make it in the overworld, though:

    <VID>

Now I know why they're called Enderdragons. Btw, their use of the explosion texture seems like good news for Misa's HD texture pack. Whenever an Enderdragon phases through blocks, we'll be seeing Misa's more yellow/red explosion-like textures. Which will be awesome. And in HD. :D

I just made this HD 'Moon Phases' texture if anyones interested...

    <PIC>

I'm guessing the moon phases and the now-reddish full moon would be for the zombie apocalypse thing Notch was talking about. Crossing my fingers.

EDIT: Just saw the new default textures via Wiki. I was wishing for them to be an addition to the pre-existing full square moon, but I guess it's because it's hard to imagine a square-y crescent moon. LOL. I'm also liking the new pixel-y round sun.
