This page will serve as an installation guide for both the Vice City and San Andreas versions of BTTF Hill Valley. With the release of 0.2g for Vice City and 0.1.4.5 for San Andreas we have parity between the setup files with the instructions below being identical unless stated otherwise.
While the mod is primarily in English with some limited support for additional languages in-game, the setup file with special thanks to our community members for providing the translations incorporates the

Automated Installation
When first clicking on the setup file you will (unless you have UAC disabled) be notified with a UAC popup as seen in this screenshot. This occurs because the setup file is not digitally signed. Click Yes to continue. You will then see this message while the setup file unpacks itself. Setup will then prompt you to select a language to continue the rest of the setup process in. Simply choose your selected language and click OK to continue. After clicking Next on the Welcome page, you will be prompted to select the directory where you have Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas installed depending on the setup file you are running. Directory Validation
The setup file will validate that the chosen installation directory contains a copy of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as appropriate.
If the chosen directory is not valid the setup file will pop a message alerting you that the chosen path is not valid and advise you to reselect your installation directory.Optional components (not applicable 0.1.4.5 for GTA SA) - here you can choose whether to install two optional components, the Player Skins pack (contains multiple Marty McFly skins and a Doc Brown skin), and the Vehicle Extra pack (this contains the additional non-star cars which were present in earlier versions of Back To The Future: Hill Valley).
Side note - the vehicle extra pack will increase game loading time by some seconds.
When you are ready to proceed, click Install
A popup notification will appear advising that the setup process may take some minutes to complete (not applicable 0.1.4.5 for GTA SA). A progress bar will detail the % of the installation that the setup file has completed, with a window detailing the specifics of the files which are being added to your Vice City or San Andreas installation.
When the installation has completed it will write an install log file to your Vice City or San Andreas directory and will pop an installation complete message, should you wish to review the install log it can be opened using your text editor of choice.
At the Finish page simply click on Finish to close the setup file. -
Manual Installation
There are some instances where our automated installer is not appropriate, for example if you are intending to install the mod under Linux or Mac-OS. Or if you are looking to install the mod to a copy of Vice City or San Andreas which already contains mods (though we do always recommend installing our mod to a clean copy of GTA as we are unable to validate which other mods will or will not work alongside BTTF HV).
A prerequisite to performing the next step you must have 7-Zip installed on your system.
To perform a manual install you will first need to extract the contents of the setup file, to do this right click on the setup file, scroll down to the 7-Zip option, and select Open archive.
With the archives open we can see the contents contained within the setup files.
For the purposes of this guide we will be ignoring the top directory $PLUGINSDIR this is not required.

Vice City
For Vice City we will be covering a basic manual install which will not include the optional Skins or Vehicle Extra packs detailed on the auto installer.

Rename gta-vc.exe to gta-vc.bakNext, copy the contents your extracted from the setup file earlier and paste them into your Vice City directory. After which your Vice City directory should look like this:
That's it, manual install is now complete!
If you are running Linux or Mac-OS you will also need the following launch command option:WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
This will allow then allow mods to load normally.
-
San Andreas
