I think it may look better using the wood texture from the center of the truck.

FYI, if you look at this picture closely, you can see the wheel has an iron rim.

This must be common for the time, in fact my grandfathers steam wagon (which was built in 1905), has wooden wheels with iron rims.

Not really like tires, they don't have much grip, and the iron rim isn't to strengthen the wheels, it's more to stop vibration shaking them to pieces :P

Did you see a turntable in the film? I'm doing the 'End of Track' sign.

Remember when Doc told Marty to switch the track so after they "borrowed" the train? Then he told those 2 guys to "uncouple us from the tender" or something like that?

Are you for real? The tender is the back of the train, where the wood was, and the actual quote was "uncouple the cars from the tender", cars = train carriages
