Mike Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) It has been noted that the Evilraptor HV map mod which was bundled with 0.2e can increase the chance of crashes occuring. To that end, we have made an update which will remove all portions of Evilraptors map, leaving in place only the town square, and a simple road that has been added to enable you to drive across to it. In order to install this update, we recommend the following steps: 1) Install a fresh copy of Vice City 2) Install the main 0.2e setup file Click Here 3) Install the Hill Valley Terrain Col fix update Click Here 4) Install the updated gta-vc.exe Click Here 5) Install the latest main.scm update Click Here 6) Install the 0.2e_map_update Click Here use GTA mod installer to install - For those who wish to manually install the map update, extract the contents of the data folder from the rar into you GTA VC directory, and use IMG Tool to add the 1955road.dff model to your gta3.img file, once added rebuild the archive. Last update, this time around as well as the map changes it will also replace 30+ vehicles with the originals from Vice City. I didn't remove all of the extra cars, for example I left doc's packard, biff's ford, griff's bmw, martys toyota, needles ford etc in the game. Everything extra outside of that I removed. Quote

The flying animations, after all, involve spawning a vehicle and objects. And what makes the mod crashy in future eras are the spawning of high-poly vehicles (the De Lorean included). But sounds like an old 0.2d crash issue, so it's good. Quote

Actually I'm having a problem of actually starting GTA:VC itself (can't be an installation problem, 'cause the same copy works on another computer, but it really doesn't work on mine for some reason), but I'll try testing those updates. Also, I'm asking again: are we going to have low-poly model versions of those cars we included in the mod, or are we really going to replace all of those extra cars with stock/original ones for the sake of making 0.2f stable? Mike Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 As I've stated a few times (I guess you missed it?), it depends on whether the original authors will allow us to use degraded versions of their models. If not, then scratch building would be required. To sum up, if we can get permission, low poly versions of the existing 0.2e models will be shipped with 0.2f. If we can't get permission, then the stock VC models will be used until the scratch built models are ready. Quote

Make that 3, something went terribly wrong with Time Circuit and showed random symbols(that's not the game feature I can tell). But at least it's not crashing in Hill Valley, since it's floating in midair ~50 minutes played without crashes. Sorry to say, but after longer playing, the crashes appear more randomly, as it did after first installing 0.2e. Don't know why, but apparently the downgrader doesn't have such a crash-killing effect on this PC. Although, it probably doesn't crash with HV anymore. Edited June 11, 2009 by -RG- Quote
