Mission Ideas

Recommended Posts

Okay, we want to start collecting mission ideas for some missions that can hopefully be included in future releases leading up to V1.0.

If you have any ideas for missions you would like to see in the game please post them here, and include as much detail as possible including a short title.

Please refrain from discussing the ideas in this topic, we just want the mission idea, followed by the description.

Additionally please do not post duplicate ideas or ideas which are very similar to what has already been suggested.

I am operating a zero tolerance policy on BS in this thread, so any comments on ideas etc will be deleted, if you want to discuss ideas for missions in more depth please start a thread in off topic, then when you are finished, put your completed mission idea in this thread.

EDIT - When I say please include as much detail as possible it means exactly that, a one line reply is not sufficient. Please include at least a paragraph on what the mission will be about, and remember, it needs to be loosly based on what happens in the movies.

eventually i think you should have missions for every part of the bttf movies.

Lemme start with a simple one.

Late for School (sub-mission)

- Objective: Help Marty get to school on time with his skateboard (only). You only have 3 minutes to get to school.

- The mission becomes available every 7:00-7:59 AM, and the starting time of the mission is 7:57 AM.

- If you make it to school before 8:00 AM, you'll accomplish the sub-mission. However, if you never made it before 8:00 AM you'll fail the mission, still you have to get to school.

- After completion, the player will re-spawn at 2:30 PM outside Hill Valley High School. If you finished the mission at 8:00 AM or later, the re-spawn will occur at 2:50 PM, plus 10 times the difference between the time of completion and 8:00 AM (for example, if you finished the mission at 8:05 AM, the re-spawn will occur at 3:40 AM).

- The starting line and track would vary, depending on the location where you started the mission -- Doc's garage, Marty's home, Hilldale, Jennifer's home, etc.. Finishing one track successfully would unlock another starting line, which gives you access to a harder track with bigger bonus upon completion. At first, only Marty's Home is unlocked.

- Do any action necessary to get to the school faster, like taking shortcuts, holding on to fast-moving cars for boost, going down to slopes, etc.

I think the first mission should actually be where you play as Doc, gathering equipment to build the time machine. First you would have to get a DeLorean, and then you go pick up parts like the Flux Capacitor, and Plutonium, and other things. This would probably be timed, and when you steal the Plutonium from the Libyans they would chase you and you would have to lose them. Also, in order to steal the Plutonium, you would have to first have a "shiny bomb case full of used pinball machine parts." You would then "switch" your bomb case for the Plutonium. After you've collected everything, you would go into Doc's garage, and after a few seconds of some sounds that sounds like a car being worked on, you would drive out with the time machine. Then you would drive it into the back of Doc's truck and that is where the "Prologue Mission" would end.

Something like that yes, but I think it would be great if you phoned Marty - like in the film at the beginning but the other way round, you know, the 'Will you meet me at Twin Pines Mall at 1:20am tomorrow morning?' or something - the storyline from the Docs side yeah - And perhaps some sort of car chase from the cops maybe, remember the news channel when the newsreader said that plutonium has been stolen...

It would be interesting :) - I think voice actors are needed by the way...may I suggest asking for them probably through youtube perhaps? If people uploaded themselves speaking as Doc or Marty then the mod team could pick who they want as the voices and it would be much better lol :D

I think the beginning should start with a mission, not the tutorial yet, and you will learn the stuff as you go along with the missions, telling you how to do things at the top.

1st Part:

Like Ziero_1986, you will start off as Doc, who is working for the Libyans, and the mission will consist of Doc talking to himself in a cut scene about switching the Bomb for used pinball machine parts. Then you will take the package to the Libyans In Doc's car and flee back to your garage to prepare the time machine. It then ends, mission passed.

2nd Part:

It will then go straight to a cut scene where is shows Marty leaving his house and getting on the skateboard. You are now Marty.

The cut scene ends once he gets on the board and your then controlling Marty, up at the top it tells you to get to Doc's garage to check up on him, and puts a blip on the map. Once you get there it goes into a cut scene with audio clips from the movie. Marty walks in yelling doc's name and gets off the skate board and it rolls over and hit's Doc's hidden plutonium box you saw earlier. It then goes straight to the the part where Doc calls and skips the giant speaker explosion for now. The phone ring's and it's Doc. He tells you to get to the mall later and all that jazz with the same audio clips from the movie.

3rd Part:

Then the cut scene ends, "Mission Passed", and you can free roam around until late that night when it tells you "It's getting late, you better get home." Then you go back to your house and there's another cut scene with Doc calling Marty late that night. You then proceed to skate board to the mall where Doc is waiting for you. It shows the delorean coming out of Doc's truck, and Doc talks a little about the delorean with audio from the movie.

4th Part:

There's 2 options here.

Option one is we show the part with Doc and Einstein as a cut scene with audio clips from the movie.

Or Option 2 is where we skip straight to the part with the Libyans after Doc tells Marty more about the delorean.

Either way, there will be a cut scene showing the Libyans approaching and Doc saying "OMG TEY FOUND MEH!" and shows Doc getting shot and Marty yelling NOOO and getting in the delorean. Then the cut scene ends and the black bot at the top tells you to get the hell out of there! Then it tells you to go straight down the mall parking lot to the marker and turn around running away from the Libyans, then it tells you to go straight towards the stand in the parking lot and it tells you to go straight towards it and reach 88 miles per hour. You time travel and disappear while the Libyans crash into the stand. Marty then reappears in the golf park or at least somewhere else. Mission passes, you now have the time machine and the black box at the top tells you to take it to 1955 Doc's garage to hide it. There's a blip on the map there too. Once you get there you can put the delorean in the garage if you want and the box tells you there's a marker in the garage for the tutorial on how to play. You don't have to take it if you don't want to, and can continue to fix the delorean in Doc's garage to get the lightning rod delorean. Then you will start the 5th mission.

4th and a half Part: (Tutorial)

At 1955 Doc's garage (Sunshine autos) there is a marker for the tutorial mission. If you go in it it will automatically change the time back to normal and teleport you to vercetti mansion to take the tutorial mission from 0.2e. You still have to take plutonium from the Libyans just to show you how to do it. Once you've completed the tutorial it changes the time back to 1955 and your at Doc's garage again with the delorean you have to get fixed up with the lightning rod.

I put the tutorial as 4rth and a half because you will need to know some of the things for the next mission.

5th Part:

This is the final mission besides the BTTF ride mission. Basically you step in the marker and it changes the time to the night of the dance. It will have a cut scene telling you everything your about to to, as in it tells you where the white line is, to accelerate straight down to the clock tower going 88, and wait for the alarm. You take the lightning rod delorean to the white line on the street within the time limit and wait. It tells you to get out and put up the rod, then it tells you to set the time circuits to the right time and wait for the buzzer. Once the timer goes off you burn rubber to the lightning wire Doc put up where Doc is waiting and cheering you on, you see him as you get close as hes fiddling with the wires. the lightning strikes and you see the delorean disappear in a brilliant flash of light and a pair of fire trails. If you want you can show Doc running in the street. The delorean then appears back in 1985 and the Mission is passed. You now have free roam and the option to do the BTTF Ride mission.

Another sub-mission idea...

BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE RIDE -- BIFF'S STORY

This mission is entirely made up of 4 "phases", and you'll need to complete all of them to finish this mission. Failing to accomplish one phase would mean failing the entire mission.

"Phase 4" would the only applicable one at the moment. In order to apply the other "phases", we'll need a building of the Institute of Future Technology in Hill Valley, as well as all of the versions of the Hill Valley map.

In order to unlock this mission, you'll need to finish the Back to the Future: The Ride mission 20 times. This mission will be named as "Back to the Future: The Ride" in the game/mod, but not to be confused with the original The Ride mission/

If you don't like reading too much info, just mind the ones in bold or the name of the phases and the objective parts, or simply ignore the plot parts.

Phase 1: Men in White

- While walking back to his home, completely pi$$ed off after an incident in school, Biff suddenly heard 3 sonic booms just nearby. He goes to investigate, to end up finding two white-clothed men with two nice looking cars. While hiding on a bush/tree/car/fence to find out about the two weirdos, he found out they were time travelers, who were conducting an experiment in Biff's time and is now about to go back to their home time. Biff got interested in their time machines, and plans to take down one of them to take one of their time machines for his own personal benefits.

- Objective: Knock-out one of the IFT scientists completely to finish this phase. You must choose only one scientist to knock down, and you should do so without getting noticed by the other scientist. If both scientists are involved, you'll fail the entire mission, so be careful. Once you start hurting one scientist, it will try getting away from you or getting help from his fellow scientist or, most especially, try beating you back, so take any precaution necessary.

- Note that your choice of scientist will affect phase 4 of the mission.

Phase 2: Stowaway

- Biff has managed to "convince" one of the men in white to help him use his time machine. As Biff takes lessons from the white-suited noob about the time machine, his speeding and the "weirdness" of the vehicle attracted police. Being a teenager who'll put himself into trouble if he gets caught, Biff has no choice but to get away from the police through his style of evasion, or time travel.

- Objective: You must reach 88 mph with the time circuits activated while evading the police to time travel. Note that during the chase, the time circuits will keep on turning off every time you get hits from cars reaching a speed of 20 mph or higher, and reactivating the time circuits would take 20 seconds. The hits will also affect the scientist. If you take 5 serious hits (or if the time circuits are deactivated 5 times), the scientist will be killed and you'll fail the entire mission.

Phase 3: The Future

- After evading the police via time travel, Biff ended up in year 2005, which he considers the future. Biff got interested in looking around so he decided to leave the time machine to explore, only to let the scared scientist get away from Biff with the time machine. Biff, knowing that the man in white would call for help anytime soon, attempts to steal a car to chase him down and stop him.

- Objective: Chase down the scientist using the vehicle you have currently (the vehicle Biff will be using will vary; it won't be the same when doing a retry) and try killing the scientist by repeatedly bumping the DeLorean time machine, within only four minutes. You can change a vehicle to use, or go outside, but note that if he gets too far, you'll instantly fail the entire mission.

Phase 4: "Well, if it ain't Calvin Klein!"

- This is considered the Biff version of "The Ride" mission

- After taking down the run-away time traveler, by somehow killing him, Biff later realized that his only ticket back home and to other eras he wanted to go to was also seriously damaged, and not in a good condition to time travel. But after searching in the interior of the time machine, he found the time traveler's technologically-advanced ID, telling him that the person is a scientist who works at the Institute of Future Technology. Biff knew he hit the jackpot -- a place full of time machines -- and attempts to go there. Upon reaching the IFT, he decided to use the DeLorean time machine and the time traveler's ID to get in unnoticed. Once he's inside, he used the ID to get to deeper areas of the Institute, only to find a nice time machine completely exposed for him to take and use for himself. Biff takes the time machine and escapes safely from the IFT and time travels to 2015. Biff, upon arrival, got himself to a more futuristic era, and decides to have a look around, until he found out he was followed. "Well, well, well, if it ain't Calvin Klein."

- Objective: Escape from Marty and Doc as fast as possible ensuring they won't bump your DeLorean. A single bump would send you back to 2005 and render the time machine useless. The thing about this phase is that the award you'll get upon completion will be $100 X (the number of minutes you spent doing this phase) + (the number of successful time travel and teleportation attempts), but in order to complete this phase you'll need to be caught by Marty and Doc. Being caught by them during this phase won't make you fail the mission. Not being able to escape is unlikely due to the fact that Marty and Doc WILL know where you are and when you are, and they WILL catch you. The longer you spend doing this phase, the harder it is to evade Doc and Marty.

- This is where your choice of scientist from Phase 1 would take effect. If you've chosen the weaker scientist, the '81 DeLorean Time Machine will be used. If you've chosen the tougher one, the DMC-13 Time Machine will be used. The DMC-13 Time Machine will have the Location Circuits like Marty's DeLorean, only that for teleportation to occur you'll need to speed up to 88 mph. The Custom Location option will be disabled and will temporarily be replaced with preset destination locations from 0.2d.

- Note that Marty's DeLorean is equipped with Location Circuits that allows them to warp from one location to another, but unlike the DMC-13's Location Circuits teleportation can occur anytime and anywhere.

Yeah, cool ideas! Now, just make some ideas for BTTF2 and BTTF3! lol

Like, in BTTF3, make Marty go find some suitable parts for the time machine and BORROW (;)) some tires for the Delorean. Now, help haul the Del over to the BTTF3 part of the map and run 88 MPH into the screen.

I think showing missions featuring stuff that weren't shown in the movies will make the entire mod non-canonical, like how Doc made an agreement with the Libyan nationalists to have their plutonium in exchange for a bomb -- we're not even sure how Doc gave the fake bomb to the Libyans in the first place, but seeing that Doc did get the plutonium, we can be sure that Doc received the plutonium before agreeing to the Libyans that he would make a bomb in exchange for the plutonium.

It would be best though if we stay at making mainstream missions featuring stuff that are shown in the movies, and only make missions like one I mentioned above as extra or sub-missions.

Guest rastor man

ok so i have an idea for the most late version of the mod

i didnt know where to put it so i put it here

my idea is like this

someone suggested a mission to get marty to school on time so i have this idea

if marty gets to school on time there will be a storyline created by the creators of the mod

if he fails there will be the storyline of the movie

what do you think?

That'd be kinda dumb, because either way he's gonna audition with his band, either way he's gonna ride his skateboard home. Either way, he's gonna talk to Jennifer while watching the 4x4 get rolled in. Either way, that creepy old lady yelling, "SAVE THE CLOCKTOWER, OH PLEASE SAVE THE CLOCKTOWER" is gonna annoy Jenny and Marty. Either way, Biff is gonna wreck the car. Either way, Marty's gonna meet Doc at Twin Pines Mall. The only thing that'll change it Strickland yelling at him and getting detention or something...

Overall, it'd be a waste of time having to create anything story line just because he got to school early or on time...

instead of 'free to roam around' make it you also have the option to skip free to roam around in a pink marker, if boread

Steal the Plutonium...

...stage 1

you start the misson as doc sat at his desk when you get a call from the lybians asking him to manufactor a nucular bomb for them you agree in exchange for the plutonium to do the job

now you have to go and meet the lybians at their hideout you then get given some plutonium

you head back to your garage and the mission goes to a cutsceen with doc putting the plutonium under his desk...

...stage 2

you now have to go and pick up a empty bomb case and get back to the garage with it without getting any attention from the police(drive at 30mph to seem normal).

the mission then goes into another cutsceen with doc ringing someone trying to get a hold of some old fruit machine parts... you know have to pick them up but you need to get $560 first to pay for the parts...

...stage 3

deliver the fake bomb to the lybians and get back to the garage within 2 mins (otherwise you ge found out by the lybians...

cutsceen doc rings marty up asking him to come round to twin pines mall...

end of mission
